dayv2005
Ok i think im like 85 range now. Or something real close just started playing again. I have seen all new range stuff since last time i played and what not. I was wondering what are some helpful hints that are some what new (last year) that i could use. Things such as quest? Like the once where you get the attractor. And what equipment should i buy and where should i train. Just a lot of things that i should be filled in on with range lately. stormveritas
I train through slayer, and if you can use slayer to earn "points" (use slayer guide to learn more), I highly recommend learning how to fletch broad bolts. Broad bolts are amazing. At 50 gp each, they hit harder than mith bolts. Terrific weapons, I can't get enough of them. Been slaying with them and now I'm 300k from 99.
obfuscator
as the previous guy mention broad bolts are very good for xp and cost. however, if you are looking for super fast (albeit expensive) ranged xp chinning is your best bet. dayv2005
So what are broad bolts? and what do i have to do to make them? Any quest? I couldn't find these in the range guild on here. So what you are saying is make or get a rune cross bow. (1 or 2 hands? i don't know anything about xbows) Then once i have a cross bow make broad bolts and use them with my xbow while doing slayer? If it's a one handed weapon i could use dragonfire shield too for dragons on my slayer quest ? I think my slayer level is like 68 or something. Im not sure atm. posting from work ;)
Exodus_Flesh
So what are broad bolts? and what do i have to do to make them? Any quest? I couldn't find these in the range guild on here. Requires 55 slayer, thats all. So what you are saying is make or get a rune cross bow. (1 or 2 hands? i don't know anything about xbows) Rune Crossbow is 1 Handed, +90 Range bonus. Strong, but has a short ranging distance, and is somewhat slow Then once i have a cross bow make broad bolts and use them with my xbow while doing slayer? buy/fletch your own bolts. You buy the ability to fletch your own bolts after finishing the new 'Smoking Kills' Slayer quest, and get points for completeing tasks If it's a one handed weapon i could use dragonfire shield too for dragons on my slayer quest ? No dragonfire shield, safespot while ranging. I think my slayer level is like 68 or something. Im not sure atm. posting from work ;) Rune crossbow would be what you would use.. The new crossbows are much beefier than before you quit, giving +90 range attack, one handed, and allows a wide variety of strong bolts for high hits. The only con is that it's still slower than an MSB (Magic Shortbow), so slower for training via Fire Giants, or low defense monsters. For dragons, you would be safespotting anyways, so a Dragonfire shield is somewhat pointless.. If you have a Zamorak/Unholy (from the 'Horror from the Deep' Quest) use that with a Rune Crossbow, if not, don't even bother with the Blessed Books (Page prices are outrageous now, with a full Zamorak book ranging in the 10M+ range). For some quick training, you could try Yaks on Neitiznot Island with bronze knives (very cheap, quick XP). The basics of ranged training hasn't changed too much, but I suggest slayer, dragons, Aviansies (look in guides in the Archive of Wisdom), or low defense monsters for quick range training). ~Zackdt
