Heh, learnt plenty at poker tables over the years... When someone is telling a blatant lie, for some reason they 'brush' their upper lip with their finger, or cough & look down after the act.

 

 

Hah, I learned that from Monk. And now I do it myself.

 

I do that all the time. Like I'm resting my hand on my chin, but it's up so it;s covering my mouth, or I sort of from that position, rub my mouth or that area, hard to describe.

It's weird, I was doing the exact same thing as I read your post.

 

 

 

And yeah, I know a lot of high school friends who were in psychology in hopes they'd learn lie detector tricks or how to mess with people's brains. I doubt I'll take psychology because of all the immature losers at my school. I took health in summer school because it was required to graduate, and so many freshmen (I'm a freshman btw) signed up for the sex ed. It's ridiculous.

I love psychology, enough to plan on going to med school to become a psychiatrist. I took regular psychology and was interested in it enough to learn it well enough that I decided to take the AP test anyways and got a 4. There haven't been many other classes I've done as well in. Psychology just comes natural to me. I feel like I've known everything described in the book and that I just have to learn the name of it. As for "real" sciences - I can only really take biology til things just start getting too dry for me.

 

 

 

@DaN - I've read that book by Dr. Lieberman. Definitely interesting and very applicable.

Not that you can apply psychology on everyone... There are a lot of people at the emotional level of a psychopath who will show no remorse or signs of lying, you just can't know if they're telling you the truth. They don't use body language, move at all, they just stare blankly at you. Now that's skill, I can't achieve that yet but maybe some day..

 

You sure you really want to have those skills? They don't really sound like good ones to have to me.

 

 

 

Almost all skills are good to have... Emotional indifference can be a real asset in job interviews, perhaps interrogations, diplomacy, and the aforementioned, poker tables etc... It doesn't mean you *actually* have to be a sociopath, but being able to switch your emotions on/off sounds like a skill to me. Because not all people can pull that off

Trying to work on my poker face, because I seem to be showing signs of lieing when I'm not -.-

 

Really annoying, because I get blamed for stuff I don't do all the time.
