October 5, 200817 yr Maybe it's just me, but I get tired of seeing topics that haven't been posted in for over a week suddenly job to the top of the first page. And when I go to see what's new, all I find is "Bump". No. That's just stupid. I think something needs to be done about people bumping their topics to the top of the first page for no apparent reason. We have a search feature so if somebody decides they have something to contribute to the thread they can run a quick search and find the appropriate place to post. October 5, 200817 yr Bumping can be necessary, but it is otherwise frowned upon. There is no way to stop it, if you include all options that are reasonable. For example, a warn or ban for a bump is just ridiculous. As has been said before, if it doesn't contribute to the thread, the thread in question is locked.
October 5, 200817 yr If someone persistently bumps topics without good reason, they will be warned. If it does continue and they are blatantly disregarding a moderator's wishes, then I'd have no problem with a ban for a few days. I think the current stance on bumping is fine. It's not like we have a horde of ancient topics being bumped up from the depths of the latter pages.
