Small annoyance

Whenever I try to play RuneScape, it's a gamble. Most of the time whenever I try to load it up, it stops at a random time in the phase where it does all the things to load up the RuneScape applet. Basically what happens is that the applet turns into a white box and in the bottom left corner it says "Applet RuneScape bail", whatever that means. Could anyone help me out here?

I'm wondering that too... If Killer is trying to use HD, it needs a fully-working card. :?

Also, there is a high chance that Killer is running out of system resources, seeing as on any OS, Java + FireFox = serious RAM usage. (Still, for FireFox's stability, I'd stick with FireFox any day.) :-k

My guess is that it's using the icedtea-java7 plugin instead of a sun plugin.

To begin with, query your java version by typing in terminal: "java -version"

If you do not see it say something similar to this:

java version "1.6.0_10-rc2"

Java SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_10-rc2-b32)

Java HotSpot Server VM (build 11.0-b15, mixed mode)

...then you're using Icedtea, and you need to get it off quickly.

To do that, enter this command. Read it carefully and make sure you're not removing something you might like:

sudo apt-get remove gnash gnash-common icedtea-gcjwebplugin libflash-mozplugin libflashsupport mozilla-plugin-gnash openjdk-6-jre openjdk-6-jre-headless openjdk-6-jre-lib swfdec-mozilla && sudo apt-get install alsa-oss faac faad flashplugin-nonfree gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-multiverse gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse gstreamer0.10-pitfdll liblame0 non-free-codecs sun-java6-fonts sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin unrar

By the by, I sure hope you're not trying to play HD. That machine looks like it can barely handle the normal version, let alone HD.

...Alright, the Elf City update lured me back to RS over a year ago.

To be honest, i've played UT2004 on a (athlon? don't remember) [email protected]/ATI 9600XT 128mb/512 ram with 40 fps on high settings.

So i think it should handle RS fine lol.

512mb ram is probably the biggest problem in 005's computer tho.
