RayOxide
I was thinking, since I was on my phone using tip.it one time, why is there no options to make it useable for phones? I mean, it is good on a phone, but the signatures and avatars just take up so much mb of a phones internet. (I cant check atm cause im rushing, so if there is, sorry), but shouldnt there be some type of "show images" option in profile? Anything that would help using it on a phone. My phone goes at like 5kbps and it loads a page quick, just takes so much memory. Thoughts? I dont need a siggy no moar.
Kill_Life
User Control Panel -> Board preferences -> Display Options -> Disable all the signatures/avatars/smilies/... And no more picture loading. Something like that? "A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do"[Currently playing: K1ll L1f3]
D. V. Devnull
What Kill_Life said... BTW, if you want a mobile version of the forums, that is (as far as I know, please don't misinterpret me here) far beyond the handling ability of Tip.It's Staff... If you really want that to happen, I recommend that you go talk with the people who made phpBB in the first place, and request that a phone-compatible rendering mode makes it into the next version of phpBB's software and design. ~D. DarkDude
User Control Panel -> Board preferences -> Display Options -> Disable all the signatures/avatars/smilies/... And no more picture loading. Something like that? Disabling just images and avatars is the quickest way to do it, that way you can still see the text etc. in the signatures and click on pictures to have them displayed but they won't load unless you tell them too. Less changing when you want to browse the forums from a PC again either.
dsavi
I actually have quite a bit of experience with this. For the first I don't know how long when I joined TIF, I posted from a Nokia E61. One solution would be to make a skin that's as basic as possible, as well as disable all pictures. In fact, I could actually do that if anyone wants. das1330
it would not be a bad idea to see if a cell phone friendly theme is available for phpbb3, but making the board actually usable on all of the phones on the market is difficult due to there being so many different phones and mobile browsers available. For instance, on my phone (Iphone 3g) tipit already renders perfectly; no modification is necessary.
RayOxide
Yeah, thanks for the update on the "turning off pics" etc, couldnt check at the time. Anyway, i know its quite obvious for some people, using the internet on their phone isnt a problem, but if you think about it, all the pictures in sigs take up around 80kb, (thats quite a bit if you're reading a page with all-signatures) and then you have pictures for symbols like "new posts" and "locked". Text instead of that on a certain skin would be awesome for it, imo. Though it wont really be that needed; it could come in at good times. ;) I dont need a siggy no moar. I could actually see some people getting through the forums faster because of having an option like this, or even doing massive multitasking by tiling Tip.It Forums along with 3 other things on one monitor. (Including the Tip.It Main Website, and while playing RuneScape on a small section of the monitor they're using, or a 2nd monitor.) ~Mr. D. V. Devnull Yeah, basically you just take out CSS to remove the images, and replace the buttons with links. Dumb down the editor to a text box and submit, etc. But the topic icons work fine once you have them cached.

That *is* one of the most expensive phones freely known on the market, and another fact is that tip.it has a lot of images taking up alot of memory, and some phones internet isnt exactly.. "much" :) I dont need a siggy no moar.
UnknownRemoval
Is this with normal phone browsers or the Opera browser? Just google it up on your phone, download it. Shows everything exactly as it should be with a handy center click zoom feature. Works fine for me. doomy
The opera browser is good for a mobile phone, my friend uses it all the time, doesn't cost much to use either. Doomy edit: I like sheep
dsavi
We're not talking about any browser, just Tip.it.
