My laptop keeps crashing

I've had my laptop since about february and all of a sudden it seems to be crashing alot. Once every few days (and sometimes more regularly) it will just completely freeze and no keyboard commands work/the mouse wont move etc etc. My laptop is a fujitsu siemens amilo and runs vista. The only difference that I can think of between now when it is crashing and before is that I have moved to a new location. The only common program that is open when it crashes is firefox 3 which I have open pretty much constantly anyway. I am also confident that there are no viruses etc on my computer as i have scanned it several times with multiple antivirus softwares. Does anyone have any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

If you have any further questions I will answer them as soon as i can :)

Bad thing to try first, I would only do this unless YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. Undesirable things can happen to your computer; I found this out the hard way.

Anyway, some specs would be useful, as would that antiviralware that you've tried. I'd recommend running HijackThis and posting the log on here. No doubt someone will take a look and find if there's any malware on there.

You did say Firefox 3 was open when the crashing occured. Does this only happen when you have Firefox open or not? It's possible if you've installed an addon recently that it's causing problems. Try running Firefox in safe mode and see if the problem persists. If not, then it's going to be a case of re-enabling the addons one by one until the offender is found.
