Pixel Potion Critique

Hello, I was wondering if you could critique my pixels.

This is the pixel I'm working on. A part of it anyway, I'm on the potion part.

On the left is one version and the right is another. I think the right is a better version, because I'm trying to make a 3-d version of my first pixel:

I know it's a little smaller than most things I've seen, but I'm trying to make each part as perfect as possible. The main problem I'm running into with the potions is the glass. I don't know how to color is correctly, it seems. I can't seem to get the "clearness" or transparent part of the glass to really be defined.

So, critique away, please.

I added a third potion. The third one has the same amount of liquid as the first, but with the shading of the second. Do you still like the first out of all because of the black lines or did you not like the second because of the extra liquid?

You need to randomize your shading a bit(less bars) on the liquid, or use more similar colors.

As you can see in the pic below, you should probably go darker and less saturated on the edges, with a few little square patches of green and bright white adjacent from each other. The top of the liquid should probably reflect the ceiling.

The second version from the first post looks fine. I'd just get rid of the black outlines around the glass and stopper and then move on to making the other parts of the pixel. You can always edit little things later, but right now it would seem best to focus on getting at least a basic outline of the other elements right.

The main thing stopping it from looking transparent was the dark, black outline. The other changes were minor, I tinted the layer of glass around the liquid light green (previosuly grey) and made the 'inner lines' of the potion light on top and dark on the bottom, like you did on the 2nd version. Also made the outline of the liquid (previously dark green) the normal colour and touched up the line on the cork. When you put it on the brick background you may want to make the neck of the bottle transparent instead of solid grey, but keeping the darker grey outline.

Yours - Mine

A vile is made of glass, so to make that obvious use highlights where you can. I'm not in an explaining mood, or i'd cover everything else i've done, so sorry for that. But i hope you can see what i've changed etc and hopefully this will allow you to improve.
