Well you guys are exceptions to the rule, like a few people on tip.it. But there's no hiding the fact that some people 14 and under are just immature.

about 99% of the jerks on runescape are low life idiots who can't socialize with others like a normal human being :wink:

To be honest, whenever I begin talking to a player, age is the last thing I think about. You can tell pretty quickly how mature a player is by how coherent they are. Or, even if their language is sloppy, you can tell a lot by the way they ask a question, for example "Do I need gud magik for this qeust" instead of "Hey, I Want runes do my quast 4 me, its harrd"

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

When I do start talkin age with someone, they're usually surprised I'm so much older, and, often, I'm usually surprised that the guys who seem really coherent are actually pretty young.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I don't have any RS friends that I actually plan to meet up with at a certain time, but there's one guy I met a year or so ago. His name features the college football team he roots for. When he started talking to me, I asked him about being a fan of that team, and he said he wanted to go to that school. I then told him I had two degrees from that school someday, which he was wowed at :) Still, we talk fairly often and we trade or answer questions about quests and levels to help each other out.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So, that's just my story about an intelligent, yet much younger player. I don't know if he's 15 or younger, but there you go :)

Besides maturity, emotions also play a major role. When people are unhappy they often treat others with some disrespect. For example, if a person had been constantly bugged by someone continually begging, the person would be grumpy. This grumpyness would impact their actions by creaking some one more easy to anger. This ease of anger would allow someone to more likely treat others with disrespect when they dont get what they want. So, emotions are also another cause to this problem.

Hmm to restrict players being rude to a certain age isn't exactly politically correct, granted every news broadcast in America demeans people between the ages of 8 and 30, but this doesn't mean that the younger population is ruder and more prone to belligerant behavior, you simply notice them more, and if you really think alot of the older players arent making the game any better.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And Bubsa parents restricting their childs exposure to the world is not going to solve anything, it meerly creats more problems. Parents need to teach their children whats acceptable in the world and whats not, and if the child does something thats notacceptable after being told not to then the parent should knock the piss out of their kid. Before the whole timeout concept was introduced the youth were much more well behaved.

If there's one thing I learned after playing RS (off and on) since May '01, its the fact that most people are, have always been, and will always be; Rude. It's a fact of life/RS

i think the first step in the right direction for JAGeX would be to make begging a reportable offense (come on, dont we all hate the little sentence "phr33 st00f pl0x!!11!!!!11!!!!1!!!!!11!!1"???), (with a punishment of being muted for a week or something, nothing too serious) because when a beggar annoys someone, that person gets a bit grumpy, and will probably cuss the beggar/log out/take him to a place with high lvl monster (my personal favorite)/ and other stuff like that.

I don't really think anything can be done about beggars and other annoying players. It may be a pain, but they really can beg as much as they want and say whatever they want, provided that it's not obscene. The new info guy in Lumbridge does offer advice saying that you will be unpopular if you beg. Besides adding more mods to monitor and try to discourage there people as they're begging, I don't think there's anything else JAGeX can do.

These forums are probably easier to check up on than every single Runescape world, so it's not that JAGeX wants people to beg, they just have less manpower to police it, I assume. They're more concerned, rightly, that paying members don't get their accounts stolen. These forums are free to join and browse.
