Oathkeeper
Well, i'm not one to start threads but I was signing up my grandfather to Folding at Home and wondering how many other people had heard about or used This application. For those who don't know, Folding at home is a program that runs in the background of your computer, it is a distrobution project which sends out 'work units' to individuals which the computer does using it's spare processors. These are then sent back and combined together, esentially making a network of computers that are far greater then the Worlds' best supercomputer. The main question comes from a search I did of the teams that they have, a search for 'runescape' left around 8 results, 6 being two man teams and the only major one being Runescape Village. Unless Tipit has some other name (nothing came from 'tip' search). Just wondering if anyone else knows of a team or anything. (don't know how to finish this off so this is it)
AndyPandy
I only really know about it from PS3. On release it had folding at home built in, but now it's included in 'Life with Playstation'. It automatically turns on if you don't use your ps3 for about 20 minutes, kinda useful. So don't let anyone tell you you're not worth the earth, These streets are your streets, this turf is your turf, Don't let anyone tell you that you've got to give in, Cos you can make a difference, you can change everything, Just let your dreams be your pilot, your imagination your fuel, Tear up the book and write your own damn rules, Use all that heart, hope and soul that you've got, And the love and the rage that you feel in your gut, And realise that the other world that you're always looking for, Lies right here in front of us, just outside this door, And it's up to you to go out there and paint the canvas, After all, you were put on the earth to do this, So shine your light so bright that all can see, Take pride in being whoever the [bleep] you want to be. Range_This11
There was a Drum Line forums site I used to frequent around a year ago and they had a program that you could use to take your unused CPU usage donate it. The CPU usage went towards cancer research. It was a pretty cool thing. BlueLancer
Heh, I have that on my laptop. Figured it should be put to good use since I use it rarely. + off topic, but Folding @ home reminds me of online poker  Really... Internet hold'em can turn sour really fast even if you do it for pure profit. You gotta throw away 80-90% of the hands to stand a chance with multiple players. dsavi
I had it, but I uninstalled it because it slowed down my computer at startup and took up too much CPU. *Runs*
indy500fan
We had a BOINC team here, mostly doing Einstein@Home. It was me and two other people at the height.
assassin_696
We had a BOINC team here, mostly doing Einstein@Home. It was me and two other people at the height. Here it is/was :P I'd almost forgotten about this thing. Facetious name, I know. I certainly wouldn't call it an official TIF team but feel free to join if you feel like it. I left a while ago to join the Richard Dawkins Foundation team but have just rejoined for the hell of it. indy500fan
I thought it was you assassin who made it, but couldn't exactly remember. Looks like I'm not on the team anymore for some reason, I haven't used BOINC in over a year so that's probably why.
dusqi
I knew of this, but hadn't bothered to do it. Now that your topic badgered me, I have :) For it is the greyness of dusk that reigns. The time when the living and the dead exist as one.
