Tank ranger help needed!

StrayArrowz

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

My name is Stray Arrows a range pure turned tanker after the loss of the wild.

Current Stats:

89 Range

60 Defense

78 Hitpoints

58 Prayer

72 Magic

60 Attack

51 Strength

My Questions:

Where should I train defense and should i also lvl up strength and attack?

- I was planning on defense by doing slayer; therefore making money while doing tasks.

Should my prayer stop at 70 or continue to 99?

- I train prayer by burying the dragon bones i get from steels and irons. I want a visage so i dont really like banking the bones, seems inefficient.

I want to use chins to train from 90 to 99, but need money to get the 25k+ chins. Am i good enough to kill Aviansies? If not what lvls should i get?

What quests should I do that would help me reach my goal?

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks! ::'

most people say 75def and 80 range for avians but i started there at 70 defence and found it fine if you only kill the lv73 and lv79 avians

couldnt answer the other questions sorry

Some useful quests might be:

-RFD done, for those lovely gloves, although this is quite alot of effort

-Horror from the deep, for a prayerbook

-Lunar diplomacy and dream mentor, for the lunar spellbook. Vengeance in particular might be good ::'

-Desert treasure, IF you can find an outfit which enables you to use the spells without splashing too much and not ruining the whole tank thing.

-Watchtower quest could be good, the blue dragons down there are decent ranged cash and exp combined.

-Animal magnetism, if you dont already have it done

-Haunted mine and tarns lair, for salve (e), see below

Those are the only ones i can think of off the top of my head, and there are obviously pre-quests that go with some of those.

As for training defence, its much much quicker with a whip. If you can get 70 attack, grab a whip and go kill ankou with the salve (e). You can use b2p to heal, and the 20% boost to attack and strength speeds things up. Plus, you will make a slight profit from runes and the like.

Best of luck ::'

If you are serious about being a tank I recommend that you do whatever quests you have to do first (Monkey madness is a big one) that give attack and strenth exp, and then level them to 70 each. This gives you access to nearly all weapons. After this you can train slayer with a whip and train on defensive. The slayer helmet makes up for your low attack and strength for the most part and the exp is very decent (and you make money along the way). I would stop at 70 Prayer if I were you, after that isnt really needed unless later on you have a ton of extra money you wish to spend on it.

PS. Before any of you insult my method of getting 70 attack and str first on a tank ranger, I used to be a level 106 with 99 range, 99 mage, 99 def, 99 hp, 70 pray. I was a maxxed out tank ranger with 90 slayer.

Thank you all for the advice.

Fevered_Flow,

Thanks for the list. I have done a couple of them and a couple of the required ones for the others. I will definitely do some research and consider all the quests you mentioned.

CampbellMC,

Thanks for the advice. I was hesitant on getting 70att and 70str just to make training def easier but you made me definitely want to do it. It sounds like you know what your talking about

Once again, Thanks to all! =D>
