Malicious Site posts

Not sure if this has been suggested before, but it was said in the announcement and it sounded like a great idea (if its do-able)

Can you stop people under a certain post count from posting images/links? If its possible it would stop or at least slow down the amount of spam/malicious topics we've been having recently.

Just because of a few bad users doesn't mean we should take the fun out of the forums for others. (especially something as basic as images)

Also the bad users would easily find a way round it. Either getting round a censor or spamming their way to higher post count. There's usually mods active enough so things can be cleaned up reasonably quickly too.

...but not fast enough for people to not be scammed by it. I'm not saying this is the best idea, but something else needs to be thought of.

I'm not going to say there is no way of improving things, but unfortunetly I think that no matter what we could do from the forum's end, the last line of security lies with the user and there is always going to be the odd few who fall for it.

Perhaps trying to inform them better of threats on the internet and runescape specifically. But everyone knows this isn't easy, even Jagex I'm sure. Though please don't mistake this as me saying nothing can be done.

Anyway perhaps my last line in my previous post (which you were referring to) wasn't the best for this discussion as it doesn't really add anything, sorry.

The idea was in use at a forum I used to frequent at beckett.com, it often led to people making worthless posts to hit the 25 post limit. Beckett then implemented a one month wait, and the community is all but dead, the response times to keyloggers by our staff is INSANELY quick. If we were understaffed it would be a consideration, but we are far from that, so I would like to avoid restricting new users.

"Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up, and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable - a most sacred right - a right, which we hope and believe, is to liberate the world."

I hate unreasonable restrictions or liberties, they really are a community killer. I don't like joining a forum and not having features available to me. I just leave and never come back. Not the ambiance we want here.

Then the golden argument, post count means absolutely nothing except how many times you've posted. How many times you've posted does not reflect your personality or motive of using the forums. I'd rather have 5 scam topics/posts than 25 spam posts and then 5 spam topics.
