ultimatballr
Can anyone explain to me exactly what these clay tools do? I have read the KB, not to thoroughly but I did give it a read and I cannot see a reason as to why I should even consider getting these clay tools. However, I do hear a lot of talk about them and this so called exp boost you get intrigues me. Can anyone explain exactly what the exp boost is? Also should I get the best tool, the one that requires 80 in its specific skill to make? How long does it take to get the points for them? Would it be beneficial to get the pick axe and the wc axe? Just a few things that would be helpful to know. ****Please do not tell me they are bugged/glitched and not to bother getting them. Its a new mini-game the bugs will be fixed.**** Apparently, my signature was to big.
Tim
well, from what i've been told: the Volatile Tool has a 40% increase or so of experiance of the chosen item form its in, and reverts back to the seed thing after "x" amount of uses, but the bad thing is the Volatile tool will change to ANY of the items, not a selected. The Morphic tool has about a 10-15% increase of experiance of the chosen form, changes back after "x" uses, but unlike the Volatile, you can choose the form it takes, which is why the exp gets lowered. the "80 Skill" you talk about is actully the "In Game" tools you can use, not the actual weapons. Getting points varies on what you do, from my experiance, having a RC level of either 40 or 60 is a huge help as the Catalyic Runes give alot of EXP and even making lv3 (40Rc Req') i get about +50k points per game. and yes, getting both hatchet and Pickaxe is good as both seeds last longer and its not too hard getting the points to both buy and recharge them. I hope this helps. : Popoto.~<
ikraz66
I tested all the tools, so I know a lot about them. There is only 2 that you can buy from the minigame, the morphic and the volatile tool, both cost 20k points, not much considering you can get over 100k points in a single game, but you are limited to only buy 1 tool after a game. They can convert into a special tool out of the following: Knife, hammer, needle, pickaxe, butterfly net, hatchet, harpoon. If you choose morphic, you can pick the tool it turns into. For volatile you can't choose and it is a random tool, but you get slightly more exp than the morphic version. Each tool has 10 charges, and you can make/collect 100 items per charge, so 1000 over the tool's lifetime. Hatchet and pickaxe are about as good as the bronze versions, so not worth getting. Butterfly nets are worthless to begin with, as are harpoons, and these seem slower than normal harpoons... However, the needle, hammer, and knife are very useful! For instance, the morphic hammer gives 30.5 xp and the volatile gives 36 xp more than a normal hammer when smithing anything over level 30 or so. Note that the exp is per ITEM, not per BAR. tetsuo
Hello I'm rather new here in posting so be nice please. I've used the volatile hachet with 66 woodcutting and got the following xp: normal|extra xp|total xp|% of extra xp|name 025.0 | 04.0 | 029.0 | 16.00 | normal 025.0 | 04.0 | 029.0 | 16.00 | archey 037.5 | 06.8 | 044.3 | 18.18 | oak 067.5 | 10.9 | 078.4 | 16.15 | willow 085.0 | 11.6 | 096.6 | 13.65 | teak 100.0 | 12.8 | 112.8 | 12.80 | maple 082.5 | 14.8 | 097.3 | 17.94 | hollow 040.0 | 16.2 | 056.2 | 40.50 | arctic 165.0 | 16.6 | 181.6 | 10.01 | eucalyptus 175.0 | 17.0 | 192.0 | 09.71 | yew that's from 10 logs of each tree type then i diveded the xp i gained by 10 I hope it's not too messy. I've taken this from the topic about the tools, I've only used the volatile hachet so I can't say for anything else. Oh and I don't know if it was a bug or anything but I could and did buy 2 tools after the minigame both volatile. As for the speed of it I'm not really sure when I used it 100 times so not that many i thought it was about or maybe a bit slower then rune. UnknownRemoval
All of the items such as pickaxe and hatchet are all equivalent in power to bronze. Retired Crew Member | Retired RuneScape Player
RayOxide
They Are Still Glitched. Yes - being fixed soon but the Volatile items really arent that great in comparison to the normal Morphic tools. Until all the items in Volatiles set get fixed then maybe this question would be more answerable. The wc axe and pickaxe are both really bad, if you compare them to say.. The hammer or knife. Those two are the best ones. :) I dont need a siggy no moar.
ultimatballr
Well lets say I was WC'ing willows or teaks would the exp gain be more worthwhile? And if I was mining say iron or granite, would the exp gain be worthwhile? both of those are rather low on the level reqs so I would think using something bronze wouldn't slow you down too much. Also, okay I get it, the hammer or needle or whatever are the better choices but I am not training crafting or smithing or anything other than woodcutting and mining.. which is why I asked about them specifically. And to tetsuo, I apologize but I do not understand that chart what-so-ever. Care to elaborate a bit more? Apparently, my signature was to big. The extra experience was not enough to make up for the fact that it took me ages to mine each rock. I'm not sure about iron, but i would imagine it's the same. Care to elaborate a bit more? really sorry that it's a mess but i wanted to get it to show the info as best i could the 1st number is the normal xp you get without the tool, the 2nd number is how much more xp you get (xp - normal), fixed boost or a % boost it's neither), 3rd number is the total xp you get when using the volatile tool, the 4th number is the % of how much more xp you get then normal (I wanted to know if it was a and the 5th isn't a number but rather it's the name of the tree i was cutting. I'm going to try and edit my post to make it better to understand. [edited for my error]
purewcnub
Yeah, the harpoon, hatchet, and pickaxe are bugged. I don't know about the harpoon, but the hatchet and pickaxe don't even have an animation. Edit:YET ANOTHER GLITCH I JUST FOUND! UGHH!! I was smithing iron bars into knives for training ranged and smithing with the volatile hammer. After the hammer ran out, it turned into a proto-tool. It changed entirely from a volatile tool to a proto tool.... Goals: 94 magic94 ranged55 slayerAddy gloves-done
