Geoff Owns
Hey guys, I'm relatively new to photoshop and I tried something new, so let me know what you think? 94/
Ouchy
The background looks to busy, and I am not really a fan of the texture you used for it. Good job, none the less  My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages. Sam
It needs alot of work - Colours: When tagmaking, choose colours that are close to eachother, and don't clash #-o Background: The filters that you used to make the background don't look very good in my opinion, so I'll give you advice on making a BG yourself Try making the background yourself, using smudging EXAMPLE as a basis for backgrounds is a good start. You could also try using C4D or Fractal Renders as an option for making the background. Blending: There is no blending #-o There needs to be blending to make a sig look "natural", if you catch my drift. This can be done most of the time by a little smudging Text/Fonts: Unless it's a request, or whatever, don't put text on your sigs. In my opinion, ALL tags would look better without text on them. It's tempting to use it a space filler too >.< IF you ARE going to add text, make it blend in with the background so it looks part of the sig, and not slapped on. 2257AD.TUMBLR.COM
Geoff Owns
Thanks, I will take what ever people tell me as constructive criticism, and ill work harder to make them better : But when I look for tutorials on how to make mine better by smudging etc, its usually some one showing you how to make the sig they made instead of just showing you how to do the smudging, blending etc. :? 94/
Sam
That's good :P Most new people who come here can't take C/C. Oh, and welcome to tip.it, and the gallery I suppose  EDIT: Smudging eh?... well, are you using Photoshop, or GIMP? I'm a photoshop user, so if you are a GIMP guy, speak to someone like Thruitall, Soa, or Mrshinyredplanet; they're probably the best GIMP artists on this forum. 2257AD.TUMBLR.COM
Geoff Owns
O Photo Shop for sure, I have cs3. I used to photoshop quite a bit like 2 years ago, I still wasn't very good but i have defiantly lost the little bit of touch I had :? 94/
tripsis
I think it looks pretty good for someone who is new to PhotoShop :) I too am not really a fan of the texture in the background or the text. But like I said, it's definitely a good start! I think the best thing you can do at this point is just keep practicing, reading more tutorials and posting your work here for comments. Geoff Owns
thanks, Little do you know of any websites that will specifically show you how to do the smudging and stuff instead of making a whole sig. I would much rather make my own work then making something people have already made. 94/
Ouchy
deviantArt is usually a good place to start. I'm sure LB knows other good site that are for Photoshop only, however. tripsis
deviantArt is usually a good place to start. I'm sure LB knows other good site that are for Photoshop only, however. Well at DeviantArt you can limit your search to PhotoShop only, which does help a bit. Geoff Owns, try this: [*:3a9kyy7x]Go to http://www.deviantart.com/ [*:3a9kyy7x]On the left hand side, click "Resources and Stock Images." [*:3a9kyy7x]Select "Tutorials." [*:3a9kyy7x]Select "Application Reference." [*:3a9kyy7x]Select "Photoshop." [*:3a9kyy7x]Make sure you're in the "Popular" tab, and on "All time" (that's the best setting if you're looking for the best/most popular tutorials ;)) [*:3a9kyy7x]Type "Blending" or "Smudging" into the search box (or any other related terms). I used "Blending" for my search (below). Doing that same search, here are a few results I got: http://redbonniekidd.deviantart.com/art ... n-57622184 http://Raynor3.deviantart.com/art/Blend ... r-48104340 http://aanoi.deviantart.com/art/Blendin ... l-55999623 http://Flawz.deviantart.com/art/Signatu ... l-83296667 http://AtomicoX.deviantart.com/art/Smud ... -100905637 Good luck :) - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog
Sam
EDIT: Tripsis, you've explained what I didn't. Thanks :P That seems to be the most comprehensive guide to beginning smudging I can find. I wait for your result :P You don't have to do the pentool part at the start, though if you know how to use the pentool well, go ahead! Though you could brush some colors in, and start smudging a little quicker - use these smudge settings - http://rapidshare.com/files/138566341/SmudgeStsNW.png.html DeviantART is really the only site I go on for tutorials like that; sure, there are many GFX Forums/Websites around, but beginner tutorials are rather hard to find. 2257AD.TUMBLR.COM

tripsis
You can't apply it? Do you mean that you are actually unable to? I think he means that he finds it difficult to use the techniques in a tutorial with any image other than the one used in the tutorial. - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog

Jopie211
ok I know how to do what was in that tut but i cant apply it to any liek images or anything, ugh ps is harder than i remember i have like -20% creativity lol Applying what you read in tutorials is probably what most newer people struggle with, but it will get easier as you get more experienced. For now, I'd recommend just following a few tutorials step-by-step. You don't have to post/keep the outcomes, but doing this will help you understand things better. You can always start making some more creative/original signatures later. pixel avvy by me deviantART

Ouchy
Wow, that's a huge improvement! The C4D is slightly distracting, but you should be proud of yourself! My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.
