Necromagus
This is an issue that I've had since updating to Ubuntu 8.10. Simply put: when I plug in headphones on my laptop the sound still plays through the main speakers. This obviously defeats the purpose of using headphones. I'm using ALSA for all my devices. Makoto_the_Phoenix
Feel like giving PulseAudio a try? To activate it: System -> Preferences -> Sound, then select "Autodetect". It should pick up on PulseAudio, if it's installed, and it should work.
