December 30, 200817 yr I'm having a massive problem playing anything multiplayer, because I'm getting intermittent bursts of horrendous lag for no apparent reason. I've done everything I can think of to try and fix this, but none of the usual things that would cause high latency seem to be responsible. There are some really unusual things showing on the game's console however. anybody who knows what the hell is causing this?
December 30, 200817 yr My internet is being awful (pic is only a quarter loaded), but it looks like this FCVAR_CHEAT is causing the problem... Are you running any cheats on the game? In which case you probably want to disable/remove them then try connecting again... Or else whatever you're connecting to needs the FCVAR_CHEAT in order for you to connect, which I'm assuming it doesn't have. So try removing/disabling any cheats you may have added. sig by Soa.....tip.it times.....art & mediadeviantart/flickr/last.fm/steam/twitter/tumblr/youtube
December 30, 200817 yr Author I never enable any cvars manually, and that is the only TF2 server that I use, so theres no reason that the conflict should be there. I think its a false positive caused by something else.
December 30, 200817 yr Is this only happening in source based games Jaziek? Like, does this happen during WoW or anything else?
December 31, 200817 yr Author Is this only happening in source based games Jaziek? Like, does this happen during WoW or anything else? I had a look at WoW, but its kinda hard to notice because these [bleep]es last for about 3 or 4 seconds, and unless you're casting, or standing in a place with tons of people moving about a lot, it isnt really noticable. I think it was affecting WoW though, so yes. Which leads me to believe its a connection issue.
December 31, 200817 yr Yeah it seems like it. Are you running a wired or wireless connection? And, if it's wireless, can you temporarily make it wired to see if that is the problem?
January 2, 200917 yr Author Yeah it seems like it. Are you running a wired or wireless connection? And, if it's wireless, can you temporarily make it wired to see if that is the problem? yeah its wireless, the problem is, the lag is impossibe to recreate, and happens when it wants. I cant have my machine wired for long enough to accurately test whether or not its the wireless which is the problem. (I dont think it is, since I've had it for 3+ years and its been fine.)
January 5, 200917 yr So you can't really have it wired for a prolonged period of time? Because part of me thinks that it may be a problem with the router or your wireless adapter. Some routers especially seem to just lose strength after a while, so it may be screwing up, hard to tell.
January 5, 200917 yr Are you talking about lag or low fps? I've noticed since the last TF2 update that my FPS drops faster and harsher then before (due to the extra effects added). Lag wise I would run spy/mal/ad ware scans as well as a virus scan, as there have been an increase of infection (down to the IE bug and the seasonal increase).
