sohkmj1
As the title implies, can anyone suggest an antivirus? I currently use Norton, but it is freaking annoying, often blocks important stuff that are supposedly trojans, randomly filters websites, and I can't play a nice game of warcraft without having them inform me that my subscription is running out/ i need to update it and restart. Since I need to renew the stupid antivirus soon, I might as well try and get a new one. It can't be worse than norton, right? I believe paying shouldn't be a problem, as long as it's not like $110^. If free download, it has to stay free. No "omg your free trial is up you must download again".
Dracion1
Avira is an excellent free one (outstrips AVG by a long way) or if you don't mind paying NOD32 is good too. supernova309
always go for ad-aware, its great and free!
Dracion1
Ad-aware is anti spyware, not anti virus ;) Still worth having though. "In the beginning, the universe was created. AndyPandy
How 'bout Kaspersky? That's what I use, not too resources hungry. Protects me from everything. So don't let anyone tell you you're not worth the earth, These streets are your streets, this turf is your turf, Don't let anyone tell you that you've got to give in, Cos you can make a difference, you can change everything, Just let your dreams be your pilot, your imagination your fuel, Tear up the book and write your own damn rules, Use all that heart, hope and soul that you've got, And the love and the rage that you feel in your gut, And realise that the other world that you're always looking for, Lies right here in front of us, just outside this door, And it's up to you to go out there and paint the canvas, After all, you were put on the earth to do this, So shine your light so bright that all can see, Take pride in being whoever the [bleep] you want to be. Sindarin00
Avira AntiVir is a great virus program, and you can pay for it $30 a year or something if you like. It is the only virus scanning program that I use, as it catches everything. On 2 computers, there were virus scanners, one was CA and one was from Telus. I shut those two down, and loaded up AntiVir, did a scan, and found over 100 viruses that those two, supposedly top of the line, scanners did not find. As for spyware, definintely use Spybot search and destroy. It has real time protection that blocks incoming spyware (at least 99.9%) of it, and does not even let it get installed on your computer. Forget Ad-Aware, it does not have this kind of protection. So definintely get Avira and Spybot [hide=Drops]Barrows: Ahrim's Robeskirt (2) Dragon: Plateskirt (3) : Left Halfs (2) : Med Helm (1) : Boots (14) : Spear (3)Treasure Trails: Sara Platebody (1) Slayer: Leaf Bladed Sword (9) : Granite Helm (3) : Granite Maul (1) : Black Mask (3) : Abyssal Whip (2)Other: Obby Cape (1) : Obby Maul (2)Splits: Shield Left Half (1) : Dragon Med Helm (4)[/hide]
Orpheus
Avira is great, you can pay if you want to for it. Avast! is also good, you just have to register an e-mail and they'll give you free updates for a year NOD32 and Kapersky cost money, but are ridiculously great. I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal. OPEN WIDE HERE COMES THE HELICOPTER.
Resonae
Avast! is good, free with updates forever if you get it from the right site (my friend was redirected to the uk site which didn't have the free version :? ) but it does also have slight issues with false positives. But it is fairly easy to turn off automatic scanning and just scan everything manually, so Avast! is a good option. MR. OCTOPUS BEARD DISAGREES! No, THAT's what she said. Big_Stingman
I use free version of AVG and spybot search and destroy. These together seem to work pretty well.
