You're better off with an adze or dragon axe, I believe the adze has been proven to be faster than an SC tool. The fastest xp comes from well, chopping the whole time. Wasting time on getting tools is bad, especially when the best trees are far from a bank. I calculated that one morphic axe is worth 17.5k bonus wc xp, so that means playing the game is worth 52k or so (give or take some I dont have a calculator on hand) an hour. It's just a nice break, being able to play a minigame that I love, and actually have usable rewards that compensate for the time spent in the minigame. Retired Tip.It Crew Mapper.
