January 16, 200917 yr What does it mean? I've seen this quite a lot when looking for graphics cards, new computers etc but I'm kind of lost to what it's about. Does it enable you to have 2 gfx cards connected up to 1 output, or is something else entirely? If so, wouldn't this work out at better value if you had say two 8800GTs rather than a single GTX 280 or something? Any help appreciated, thanks :) "In the beginning, the universe was created. January 16, 200917 yr It means you can run two, and sometimes three graphics cards at once to increase performance. Though, Crossfire and SLI have different technologies. I would just go with one card, considering it's an equivalent, as you save a slot for another card should you need it.

Or 4=) (single gpu cards) SLI/CF is actually not such a big money-waste since some time. But getting more than 2gpus (x2 card or dual cards) for gaming is pretty much a waste, on all tests i've seen - you sometimes drop in fps with 3-4 gpu's. 3 gpu's can give you a tiny tiny tiny bit more fps but it's not worth the price. Ok, for benchmarking programs it's good... But not for much else (ok, folding home too, and some editing softwares)... But not much else i can come up with atm. January 16, 200917 yr You just run them both together, pretty much. Need an SLI enabled motherboard though and the same card. Usually SLI seems to net a 30% performance gain over a single card, so no two 8800GT's would not be better than a single GTX280.
