I bougt this 120mm Fractal design case-fan, and i tried to screw it into place... But it's not working very well.

 

I haven't used these "plastic screws" before, so i don't know (the ones that i've installed before has just been to screw in place with normal screws - np). It comes with 4 plastic screws and 4 metallic ones.

 

How am i supposed to screw it into place?

They push into the corners (they might only go half way throught the fan).

As you screw it in, it creates its own thread. Takes a bit of work.

Hm, guess i'll give it ago in a while (downloading Hitman from steam atm).

I am wanting to put a case fan in my tower. I bought a Thermaltake 90x90x25 with a 3-pin connector. Turns out, the wire is too short to reach my motherboard jack. It's about 6" long and comes up a few inches short of reaching.

 

 

 

Can anyone recommend a case fan with a longer wire? Is splicing the wire a safe option?

The length of the wires vary form brand to brand.

 

You can get away with extending the wires yourself, but I would only recommend it if you know what your doing and don't plan and moving the fan or case around a lot.

 

I simply used the wire of a old/broken fan and soldered it to the new fan (still working 6 months on \ ).

 

 

 

I think you can get hold of a extension lead for it, but I've not been looking for one recently so I wouldn't know where to find one.

Well a bit of force helped.

 

But it's kinda weird. I don't think you should need to use a bit of strength just to get the screws in, but but... It was only 10. Temp dropped a couple of degrees aswell.

As long as the connection is stable and the fan works, it's probably not too big a deal about the fixings, as long as they are holding it up. Like I said before, the holes are smooth (from what I see in the picture), so when you try to put the screws in, it has to make the spiral thread itself as it gets twisted through, so it's bound to be tougher than a normal fixing.
