shadowshow
yes i agree, the closest quest (that i have done) that you can play the hero is dragon slayer, and you dont get any recognition except for being able to wear rune pl8, i htink that they should at the very least make it to where every quest that you start have many parts to it, like with dragon slayer there should be a follow up quest where you have to kill the elder blue, red, and black, and for each of them that you beat there should be a new armor type that you can get, that would at least give some exteding plot to the boring world of RS Horus was weak, Abbadon was a fool, but I Karkan, chosen of the chaos gods, shall conquer Terra, I shall kill the false emperor. Under my blood stained banner, chaos shall rule the universe
Rob_rob_munchies
any1 ever played tibia here? cos rs cud learn from that. i think that the paladin, (wot were the others) anyway. you chose of 3 groups (1 was 10/10 strength 0/10 prayer, 5/10 strength 5/10 prayer and 0/10 strength 10/10 prayer (prayer is basically magic) anyway i thnik rs should take off defence, magic etc. and you chose what you want to become with certain advantaegs and disadvantages then you train that. rs definatly needs a story, not a good one, but at least a story
wellington11
I agree with the idea of a storyline - at least it makes the acquisition of xp less tedious. The problem with RS is that after a certain point you might have to work all day on a skill to level - What is the point of that? The first guy is right there is too much fetch and carry to little gain - The "one small favour quest" was a good example of this. If RS wishes to market itself as RPG then it need as storyline. The irony is JAGEX realise this with plot quests to try and bridge the gap a little - the frem quests & elf quests are examples of this. I cant see why there isnt limits on how far you can travel at a certain level. This will stop low levels getting out of their depth and hi levels being surrounded by beggars. This works by extending the area you can investigate as you get to a certain level , i.e. from varr to falador. This expansion could be gained by a following/compatible quest(s) towards the ultimate goal of the legends guild and full access to the rune map. kolko
Why do you think that people play rs and not another game? Because some people just dont want to stay up all night for doing a quest! Some people just want to play a fun game where they can come and go whenever they want, do quests wich are not extremely hard wich only players who play 24/24 7/7 can complete! If you dont like it the way runescape is, go play guild wars! Games are there for the fun of the people playing it, and if runescape is no fun for you, it is not made for you! shadowshow
Runescape does have a story anyway. The 5 ages, the Arrav legacy, the God wars...Gander at the website sometime. It might be a storyline, but that storyline doesn't follow the whole way through, for it to be the actual storyline then in the rest of the quests, there should be something that has to do with it in them :x Horus was weak, Abbadon was a fool, but I Karkan, chosen of the chaos gods, shall conquer Terra, I shall kill the false emperor. Under my blood stained banner, chaos shall rule the universe
shade_bandyt
if you want a single main story line for the whole game, then you might as well just play a single player rpg. as most people pointed out, the problem with a story line is its made up of a beginning, a sequence of events, and an end. unless you can think of a really compelling never-ending story that never gets boring, then it simply wont work on a mmorpg like runescape. not only that, in a storyline setting, the game dictates what you will become, and everybody has to go through the same storyline with runescape you can make your own storyline. you can truly act out a role of your own in the world of runescape. you can be an adventurer, a magician, a jester, a hardworking farmer /smith /lumberjack/ miner/ artisan/ fletcher, etc, a skilled merchant, a teacher, a leader. its not just an rpg. theres economics, policies, social norms and taboos, strategy, work, play, exploration, and of course interaction with other players. in this way, there is a much larger potential for a very unique gaming experience. Zibl
That's what makes Runescape origional. Well, one of the things. It isn't a "sneak past enemy lines and kill your opponent" or "beat king koopa and save the princess".... it's just a pure "do whatever the helly ou want" type of game. It does, however, favor the real world. Think about it. It has simple things like 'supply and demand', just like the real world does (take gas as an example). It's also a game that's "self-reliant". By this I mean if you don't the time to develope your skills, your not gonna go far. But by training/leveling up your skills, you excel in status and even your pocket.
