February 4, 200917 yr I couldn't imagine anyone spending a lot of money on a broken axe just because it is rare! Goes to show you how silly Runescape players really are. GTFOH
February 4, 200917 yr When axe heads could come off of the handle you would get two different items, a (bronze-dragon) axe head and an axe handle or dragon axe handle. If you had an axe head it would simply turn into an axe and all axe handles and dragon axe handles were deleted from the game. I think it will be similar with broken axes. All broken axes should simply turn into a "regular" axe of the same type. Surely you could make a lot of money doing that then. 1)Buy up all the broken axes at there market price less the repair cost. 2)Wait for the update. 2)Bam axes repaired for free. 3) Sell the repaired axes for the market price Its small profit per item, but if you mass brought them you could potentially make a fair bit of cash for doing nothing. February 4, 200917 yr just thought I'd point out that picaxe handle's went up 9% today, and broken bronze and rune picaxes went up like 8%, a bunch of my friends (I'm in a merching clan) have offers up 100s of them. Though I doubt they will become discontinued items, it is still tempting to buy a few. ................................[Currently Have - 1300M].........................................................My Beginner's Merchanting Guide - My Youtube Channel - My Twitter
February 4, 200917 yr They went up because everyone is thinking because of this update they're going to become discontinued, thus rare so they're all buying as many as they can. Demand goes up, price goes up. And once this update does happen everyone will find out that all that money they spent went to waste because their plan didn't go as well as they wished. Jagex won't make them discontinued just like they won't make any more holiday items tradable.
February 4, 200917 yr lol hope u guys are rigth a friend of mine spent like 1 mill on brken axes and broken pickaxes and was saying he was gonna be rich lol thanks guys i was thinking of doing the same thing... but i didnt cuz i thought they might make them discontinued..
February 4, 200917 yr Ever since the last Holiday drops, Jagex has been very cautious not to introduce new rares. If any accidentally appear, they often simply make them untradeable. However, because broken axes can get very expensive, Jagex probably won't make them useless as such. The most likely option is Jagex turning all broken ones into fixed axes free of charge. ~It's Super Effective! February 4, 200917 yr I'm betting that they will automatically complete all broken axes and either just remove the handles completely, or turn them into bronze axes. February 5, 200917 yr Jagex does not want more rares. Even if they overlook it at first, I guarantee there will be no broken axes the day after the update or they will be untradable. Not before someone gets filthy rich by merchanting broken axes :

Sure. -Spinach Rolls -"Bad" Wine (it might taste good to some people!) Although those were for scams, not because they were discontinued. However they do removed some items from the GE for a similar reason, such as all burnt meat and fish. ~It's Super Effective!
