February 7, 200917 yr One day I was using my iphone just as I would any other day. After school, about 6 hours later, I was using my iphone and i tried to open an app but it wouldn't respond. I wanted to see if it was just the app or what the problem is. When i tried another app it worked. As it turns out, no matter what I am running, the right side of the touch screen is unresponsive. I would like to know if anyone else had this problem and knows how to fix it. Thank you. <---Please click him and you get a cookie!
February 8, 200917 yr If half the touch screen is unresponsive, then you almost certainly have a hardware defect. Just to make sure, restore your Iphone and if that does not work call Apple and send it in - they are quite good about issuing replacements.

Like any touch screen hand held if you sit on the phone in your pocket that will cause this. I am not saying you did i am just saying it isa possible cause i have seen this a lot.

February 8, 200917 yr Do a hard reset by holding the home and sleep button. If that doesn't work, open iTunes and restore your iPhone as a new phone. If this doesn't work then it can't be a software defect (at least, one that you can fix). At this point you can call Apple or take it to an Apple store and they'd be happy to give you a new phone.

In my previous experiences (iPod), they just sent me a box with prepaid shipping and I sent it to them. Five days later, it showed up at my door again, free of charge.
