i am currently trying to get all my combat stats to 75 (not hp, i dont care what level this ends at). what would be the best way to train range and mage at my level with minimum loss (not FoG) and any alternatives to the giant spiders in SoS for melee

The best alternative for melee training, is training on Flesh Crawlers on the 2nd level of the SOS. For range, I'm currently tanking at the hobgoblins by the crafting guild, and I find that the limpwurtroots are more than paying for the arrows. As for mage, you could try alching, or cursing (in full rune) the zamorak monk in Varrock.

ok, but for mage is there anyway to come out even at the very least? i have heard alching is great exp and decent exp, but i dont know what to alch...

Green dragonhide items don't lose too much and are f2p. Some unpopular rune items, like maces and daggers also won't lose you much. Breaking even with mage with decent xp/hr is impossible in f2p as far as I know.

Mithril bars are generally the best, but steel can work too. Calculate the price of the nat, 4 coals and a mith ore (or 2 coals and 1 iron ore for a steel bar) and see if you break even. It almost always does.

 

 

 

The spell casts much faster and you get a healthy dose of smithing xp. Main downside is that you need repeated bankings. Hopefully this new system will help things along.
