March 7, 200917 yr after hooking my new router upto my laptop and bridged a connection to my xbox live, but i have 1 problem. Connection signal consistency. through the course of a normal cod4 game, my connection frequently fluctuates between 1 bar and 3-4 bars. this causes major annoyance due to the fact i cant reliably snipe anymore. and am sometimes forced to use automatic weapons in order to get anywhere. anyone know what the possible causes for this are?
March 7, 200917 yr Wireless will never offer 100% coverage. Might be worth seeing if you can wire it directly to your Router. Also - could be related to your internet speed. Does anyone else use the internet when you do? Anyone downloading? Is your wireless secure? Might have neighbours leeching off you.
March 7, 200917 yr Author some people are on the pc downstairs while im on, but i dont see why that should make my connection 1 bar the majority of the time when all the others are 3-4 bars My xbox live nat settings are strict and im sure that has something to do with it, although people say it doesnt. and also would my laptop firewall settings have anything to do with it maybe?
March 7, 200917 yr Laptop firewall settings are unrelated to the Xbox. As was said, if you can, try and hook your console up directly to the router. It could also be other people are causing your connection to drop of, especially if you've only got a limited bandwidth and someone is watching videos on youtube or downloading something. Also, it'd be worth checking to make sure the wireless is secure and people aren't leaching off you. Make sure you have a secure key. "In the beginning, the universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."
March 8, 200917 yr Like I said your connection won't be great through a bridge. The reason why is that first your laptop needs to get a signal (and wireless at that, which is usually slower than wired) and then needs to send the connection to your 360.
March 8, 200917 yr Author so would buying a wireless adapter for my 360 improve my connection, with it going directly from my router to my 360?
