cool_DK_boy
Hi  So, i'm thinking about trying to get a fire cape... My range level is 75, defence is 80, hp is 88 and my prayer is 70. I tried the caves twice like a year ago with 70 range & def (slow training ftw) and got to Jad with plenty of pots left.. Last time it was kinda low lvl gear, but this time i got more money :D This is what i was thinking about bringing: I got a couple of questions though. 1) Is that enough prayer bonus? I got both falador shield 3 and all 3 god books, so if any, what adjustments should i make to my outfit? 2) Besides that, is there anything that might need changing? 3) I'm planning on using adamant bolts. Good or bad? I know broad-bolts are cheaper, but they aren't as good as addy bolts, and with just 75 range.. What should i do? 4) INVENTORY SETUP?! Last time (i think) i took 9 brews, 2 range pots, one spot for diamond bolts, and the rest super restores. Is that good? 5) How long will it approximately take? sadukar123
Very nice gear, good setup. If you can, bring Unholy book for the +5 prayer and the +8 range attack. Other than that it should be good. DFS can be useful for tanking the end healer's hits though. 1. None. Perfect. 2. Not yet. 3. Use Broad Bolts. Adamant's not worth it. Broad hits the same as Adamant and has the same accuracy as Mithril. Bring a (10-20) Ruby (e) for starting the fight with Jad. Switch to Diamond (e) (around 200) when the healers come. 4. 3 Range potions, pot whenever you got time, 5-6 Brews, 3-4 Super Restores, perhaps a melee weapon (Halberd, whip.) and rest Prayer (4)s. 5. About 1-2 hours. Drops: Misc: Abyssal Whip x28 , Dark Bow x5, Beserker Ring x3, Warrior ring x1 Dragon: Dragon Platelegs x2 , Dragon Plateskirt x2, Dragon Boots x38, Dragon Med Helm x4, Shield left half x3 Godwars: Godsword shard x13, Bandos Hilt x3, Bandos Chestplate x6, Bandos Tassets x4, Bandos Boots x5, Saradomin Sword x1, Zamorakian Spear x1,. Armadyl Helm x2, Armadyl chestplate x2.
cool_DK_boy
Sounds pretty good. Is the ruby bolts (e) worth it? Also, i just heard that addy bolts hit a bit higher and more accurate than broad bolts, but im not sure on this matter. Do you (or anyone else) know of any statistical analysis on the broad bolt/mithril bolts/addy bolts hit/accuracy, or have any personal experience with it? Because my range is only 75 (low-ish) so i just figured that i should get as much power as possible :P Also, about the melee wep.. I know for sure that i'm not bringing guthans. I was considering to borrow sgs for the heal/prayer, how much does it give? And is that a good idea?

Will heal a min of 10 if you hit below 20. sgs is an exelent idea. i recently re-obtained my spare fire cape, and between sgs and guthans (at 92 def) i barley used brews on the waves. i would recomend about 100 emerald (e) bolts for the poison, it helps you to get thu the waves faster, especialy when you cant seem to hit the 360's. (i know i did at that range level.) there alos good to use in the beginning of the fight with jad. any bonus damage is a good thing vs him! fally sheild 3 is a good idea, but it really depends on how much you get hit. for your 1st try, use dfs and if your not needing much healing, go ahead and use fally. also, note that i am "old school" and dont really like using borad bolts outside thier intended purpose, lol. cool_DK_boy
I'll see if i can track down a friend that's got a sgs i can steal then (borrow  ) I think i'm gonna take at least ruby bolts (e) for Jad. Removing 50 of his hp in the start seems kinda good, but diamond bolts (e) are also good. Should i take both for Jad, and either broad bolts or addy bolts for the rest of the caves? I'm still not sure about the broad-bolts/addy bolts thing, I think i'm just gonna wait for someone that knows alot about that to post.... EDIT: Just thought of one thing... I know i need some super restores because brews lower range level.. but should i only use them, or should i also bring normal p pots? How about that item that increases how many p points you get per prayer point dose? EDIT2: Just found a cool item called a bolt pouch, which holds 4x255 bolts.. Wouldn't that be good to bring so that i can bring 255 diamond bolts(e), 255 emerald bolts(e), 255 ruby bolts(e) for jad, and normal bolts for the rest of the caves? Or does the bolt pouch not work? Stay Away From Ruby Bolts (e)! (1) waste of an inventory spot (2) Diamond are just as, if not more, effective (3) Even with 80 defense losing some of your hp could be fatal (I have seen one too many vids where this happened)

Dexek
Your setup looks good and your stats can get the job done, although a higher range level would be helpful. I came to tell you that broad bolts are equivalent to Adamant bolts at higher range levels, although I have been told that Addy can potentially hit +1 at lower levels. I am unsure of this because I was 99 range when broad were introduced. I do however see no difference in accuracy between Broad and Adamant bolts. I would personally suggest using Broad bolts & then Diamond (e) for Jad. The Emerald (e) bolts might be wise at lower range levels, since it would be more difficult to accurately hit some of the higher level monsters. Good luck. PoetryIndexed Picture 1Indexed Picture 2 Killed my maxed Zerker pure April 2010 Rebooting Runescape
cool_DK_boy
Thanks for the heads up. I dropped the ruby bolts idea. I'm gonna try and get hold of that bolt pouch thing and see what it can do. If it can hold emerald bolts(e) and diamond bolts(e) and its not really wierd, i think its the plan to bring that with those two kinds of bolts for Jad. About the broad bolts/addy bolts thing, i'm still not sure. I'll save like 100k by using broad bolts instead of addy bolts (use like 750 addy bolts in caves, i think it was less last time), so its not that bad. Unless anyone can really prove that broad bolts are equal to addy bolts at my level, i think im gonna just go with the addy bolts. linkzelda30: If i can borrow it on friday, I would like to. If you can't there, thats alright :P (I'm GMT +1 and is planning to do it at around 3 pm i think)
