Non combat sc game - 12 mins and 2 mins waiting Xp/pick - 16k Takes 12 minutes to use a pick at 45k xp/hour, so a total of 26 minutes to get an sc pick, use it and get 16k xp. That's 37k xp/hour. So, it's not worth getting sc picks if you're going for xp. Since you get 16k per pick, and it's double the xp, wouldn't that make it twice as fast as a regular rune pick? So if you can get 16k per half an hour, that's actually like 32k per half an hour, which would make it 64k per hour? So basically, if you mine 80 ores that give 100 normal xp each, you'll get a total of 16k xp with the sc pick.
