im1knight
Erm....today i saw someone using CPUID to test their CPU temperatures, i've been always using speedfan for the temperature, so i decided to try CPUID. But when i download and installed it, they showed different values! CPUID shows my CPU runs at 49C idle while speedfan shows 28C. This is a big difference! Which one should i trust? Cuz 49C at idle for Q6600 is way too high, plus i'm not overclocking or anything..... However the temperatures on hard drive and graphic card is the same. So can anyone tell me the answer which one to trust? OldJoe
CoreTemp is the one to trust. Speedfan isn't that reliable. I guess your Q66 is at 35-40C, 28 is way too low. Especially if you have the intel stock fan. 49 is not an un-likely temp tho. Check in BIOS to get more accuracy. Nadril
Meh I usually use speedfan personally. All the programs are going to show a difference though. Try CoreTemp like joe said.
im1knight
ok i used CoreTemp, and it turns out to be the same as CPUID. 50C at idle... Yes i do have an intel stock fan and it's a prebuild computer so i can't do a lot about it. But this is almost the same temperature as my laptop which runs on AMD Turionx2 at idle... Arent my desktop supposed to have a better cooling than my laptop? i also don't see a lot of dust in my fan area...so idk..is this how hot it's supposed to run under stock fan? Cuz now if i play game, which require it to run at 100%, the temperature is kinda scary...over 70degrees... MageUK
Your version of SpeedFan is out of date and the offset for the Q6600 (and some other quads) is off. It used to be off in CoreTemp too but it was fixed some time ago, as with SpeedFan. [hide=Temps][/hide]
