HexiledRazz
Alright, so i just got a 1TB EX hardrive for my birfday, and am in the process of moving all of my pictures/documents/music/programs/ect to it. And i had a few questions... Already answered Question [hide=]I know that when ever you move a file, you have to relocate it on itunes. Since i don't feel like going through all 648 items i have on it, i was wondering. Is there a way to set a searching path or something to relocate all of you items automatically? I know this seems impossible, but i thought since I'm just making a new 'My Music' folder in the hardrive, and all of the music will be in the same folders as they were before. So, basically instead of: C:\Documents and Settings\VC\Desktop\My Music It'll be: R:\My Music After i get this answered, i have a few more questions that I'm going to ask on the same thread.[/hide] Next Question: Can you change your desktop location? Since I'm moving mostly all of my files to my EX hardrive, it'd be nice if the actual EX hardrive was my desktop. Also, since I'll be saving all new pictures/videos to my EX hardrive, i was wondering if i could get programs like WMM and MSP to save files to the new 'My Pictures' and 'My Videos' in the Hardrive. stevepole
Go to your iTunes preference and hit the advance tab. Change your library location there. I use a Mac but I'm pretty sure its the same for windows.

We need to know which OS you're using. If it's XP, there's several ways to accomplish your task, but the easiest is probably to grab Tweak UI. TweakUI -> My Computer -> Special Folders. HexiledRazz
EDIT: Okay, i downloaded Tweak UI, and switched my desktop. nothing happened. When i right-clicked a folder that was on my desktop it said that it was in Drive R (which is the EX Hardrive). But, when i went into the drive, the folder wasn't there. So it didn't copy it. And i had some shortcuts to the folders in the actual EX hardrive in the Desktop, and when i clicked on those, they low-lighted like i cut them and didn't open. Hexiled Razz. ClareJonsson
I personally wouldn't switch your profile to an external drive, you're asking for a whole load of problems to spring up. [Assist-X]

Those settings in TweakUI are only informing your OS where to find those directories. It's up to you to actually move files to or from there. TweakUI lets you change your address, but you still need to call the movers if you want to keep all your stuff.

The problem is, i just don't have the space on my internal Hardrive. My internal is only 37 GB, and it's really hard to work on that little of space. Hexiled Razz. Player since March 8th, 2005. I was afraid someone was going to go mindlessly suggest that. I am without a job due to my age. So, this makes buying a internal hardrive out of the question. Hexiled Razz. My internal is only 37 GB, and it's really hard to work on that little of space. Directories that simply store big files ("My Videos" or "My Music" for example) should do fine on an external drive ... assuming you aren't doing something silly like running a media player on startup which will go looking for them. I'd strongly suggest like the others that you don't put volatile system directories (such as "Desktop") there though. There's really no reason whatsoever your Desktop should require any relevant amount of space.

And if I'm downloading anything bigger then that, i can change the save location to my EX hardrive. Anyway, the main reason why i got a 1TB EX hardrive, is because i wanted to start saving all of the raw files for my YouTube movies. Hexiled Razz. Player since March 8th, 2005.
