March 18, 200917 yr When I open up My Computer's Properties, the CPU shows up as the Core 2 Quad, which is the correct one I bought for: But when I go to run->dxdiag, it shows up as a different one: Somethings wrong?

Is this the original processor that came with the computer? Now I am thinking that possibly it might be reading an older processor or something. March 18, 200917 yr Very odd :o If there was a new CPU put in it should update itself, I know mine did when I added more RAM so I don't see why it wouldn't notice a new chip. March 19, 200917 yr Author This is a custom built computer, it was the Core 2 Quad when I built it in, never changed with another CPU. I dont know how the dxdiag got the random name of pentinum/xeon, I just don't want to get ripped off spending 200$ on a pentinum.

March 19, 200917 yr is your BIOS out of date? You could flash your BIOS eitht he current software and it should fix the problem. But Flahing your BIOS can cause permenant damage to your computer. So if it is not causeing a problem, I suggest leaving it.
