Longbows...

Longbows! What's their use?! I just don't understand what they're here for. They're slower than shortbows, and apparently have the same accuracy. The only reason you may want to use one is for the longer range... Ha! Haha! Ha! Who would do that?

 

 

 

I don't get it. Why do longbows exist? They're junk! They take higher fletching to make, but they're junk! In the Knowledge Base, it says they have higher accuracy, but that's apparently a lie.

They have higher accuracy, but the short bows speed makes up for it. What's the use of javelins, throwing axes, darts, or any other of the many 'junk' items? There can only be one best item for any situation, and the rest will be unused.

I think he's referring to combat. But your right, alching is the main use and why they are bought\sold so much more often.

Longbows are more powerful, but at the price of rate of fire. Shortbows have a quicker rate of fire, but they sacrifice power to achieve this.

No, they exist because buttons were pushed to create a binary code that roughly resembles the icon of a wooden bow when fed through a java virtual machine. Don't bother with the 'acting stuipd' trolling.

Just thought of an additional point - he's referring to their use combat with phrases like 'I just don't understand what they're here for. They're slower than shortbows, and apparently have the same accuracy. The only reason you may want to use one is for the longer range...'

That's why I say jagex is dumb. They create so many weapons, but they don't give them a use in a certain way. Give longbows a use, like adding its accuracy so there is a significant increase in its use for certain monsters, etc.

Sorry, but that weapon already exists. It's commonly known as a crossbow. There's only room for one at the top...

I find range has many weapons that are useful depending on circumstances.

 

 

 

Chinchompas are good for training.

 

Knives and darts are good for training.

 

Shortbows decent for training and good for pking.

 

Crossbows are good for killing dragons + pking.

 

Dark bows are good for pking.

 

 

 

I personally wouldn't sacrifice any of these except for maybe chinchompas (can't use them effectively at my prayer level), so theres hardly just one weapon at the top. :

 

 

 

Also, ever versed a mage with a shortbow? HAHAHAHAH!!! Lol, you would be better off long ranging with a longbow, although crossbow is still better.

Chins are the exception as a mutli-combat monster. Knvies\darts\crossbows\dark bows non-spec are killed by rune crossbow, and dark bow is the speccing weapon. Basically, we have:

 

 

 

Chinchompas as one rarely used, expensive training useful at one spot in the entire game

 

Rune crossbow for everything else

 

Dark bow + d arrows for specials while PKing.

I think knives get more xp/hr than xbows, not quite sure though.

 

 

 

Why else would everyone run around with knives at yaks.

It means that you have virtually no testing to back you up - with a total of only 600k XP, you can't have spent more then a dozen hours testing.

 

 

 

I don't remember the exact numbers, and I'm too lazy to go searching through my backlog of spreadsheets, but I'm fairly certain that it was roughly 6k difference between a crossbow and knives on a low defense monster - specifically yaks, experiments, and SOS spiders. Hunter crossbow wasn't far behind, slightly better then bronze\iron knives but worse then crossbow.

Broad bolts to bronze\iron knives, though the different types of metal knives are so similar in XP rates when costs are factored in that it doesn't really matter.

Yea, but i think Addy bolts (only comparable bolts i can use atm with <55 slayer) Would be more expensive than bronze knives.
