I'm looking for something to mine that would be a good balance of exp and profit.

 

 

 

I was thinking of either coal or gold, what do you think?

Kyatt iron ore.

Run iron ores from Pictoris (monkfish place) (sp) with a kyatt, it is near one of the fastest methods of training and you get some cash out of it.

Cool, how much money and exp will I get per hour using that method?

Now that I think about it, you should really do powermining granite. Mining has a rather low exp/hr and doing a method thats slower just for a few extra gps in your pocket seems like a horrible idea. Mining in the desert is easier if you have an enchanted water tiara, otherwise you should use lunar humidify spell to refill waterskins.

Anyway Using the piscatoris method of mining iron ore (requires swan song quest by the way) will get you a decent amount of xp and profit, I am not sure about the rates, but I recommend this method and using the highest level Beast of Burden familiar you can in order to increase profits.

Not if you use the kyatt. I'm doing that now to raise my mining, and I get anywhere betweeen 28k-30k xp an hour, depending on my focus.
