Rotorcycle
just my luck!!! While training on lessers, I was hit with a power surge. I was able to get back online in time only to have the very same thing happen again straight away! :wall: *sigh* By the time I was able to get it back, I had been (of course) killed! I only lost my ammy o' power, addy helm, 5k, a bunch of lobbies, and a few misc stuff (runes ect.). What really gives me the [cabbage]s, is the fact that it was out of my control! Am I the only one this kind of crap happens to? maybe I should get an UPS... lcandy
It happens all the time to many people, power surgers, ISP problems, parents pulling the power cable out  You lost relatively nothing, I am yet to die this way, but I am sure it won't be long 8)
Zonorhc
If you're having power surges, then dying in Runescape is probably the least of your problems. Stop playing when you're having power surges. Varrock Library: Shattered Sky | Silent Thunder | The Emperor's FinestAstri @ MythWeavers
xyrec
Yeah, dieing on a game isn't half as bad as your computer getting fried by a hickup in the power. You might wanna buy a surge protector that does just your phone line and then get a ups like you mentioned because it'd suck if your computer just stopped working and you(or your parents, whoever) had to go spend 1000 bucks on a new computer. The other benefit of a ups besides keeping surges from damaging your computer, is that if the power goes out you can still finish what you're doing in game and log out, then shut down the computer before the power runs out. Even with a ups though if you don't have some sort of surge protector for your phone line a [bleep]e of electricity on your phone line could destroy your modem. Unless of course you have cable internet....
Artie_900
I heartily recommend a UPS, at least if you have cable as xyrec mentions. I live in the middle of nowhere and the power goes out here at least every other week, and my UPS always keeps me up and running.
poochu
Whats a UPS? Sounds very interesting :D
Greatsilverwyrm
UPS is an Uninterruptable Power Supply, basically a battery-backup system. I wouldn't recommend one unless your power goes out often. They can be $50 - $200 or so, depending on what capacity you need, and it's rather a waste of money unless it'll have a good use. If your power doesn't go out much, just get a surge protector, they're cheap and will protect your stuff from power surges. Oh, also, xyrec, all UPS' (at least all the ones I've seen), have a surge-protector built in.
