How long would mining 500 runite ores take?

That's not easy to answer. It soley depends on if there's anyone else mining rune, and how easy or hard it is for you to find a world. It can take a few minutes to mine the ore as well. I've heard people getting a full load in an hour (don't know if that's true or not) and some people not finding any ore all day long.

If your using the 2 wilde rocks you can get 4 an hour without hopping

 

with hopping i assume you can get about 20?

I make a few changes to this for my personal method, but mine is a little risky and can easily go very wrong. So, I'll just fill you in on what's missing from the guide I linked to.

 

 

 

In your inventory, have the rest of the Mourner's outfit, a prayer potion, and the New Key if you have it in your bank (pick it up from the table on the way if you don't)

 

 

 

Remember not to change out of the mourner's outfit or wear anything in the weapon/shield/neck slot until you're in through the door close to the dark beasts.

 

 

 

If you want, bring another prayer potion (might not be needed, test it yourself to be sure) and a beast of burden (summon when your inventory is nearly full) so you can stay longer.

Wilderness could be faster because less time is spent hopping worlds. I know I can get 45 ores in an hour if I went for max efficiency; a more realistic figure would be around 40 for normal conditions. That's 624k an hour for normal conditions, 702k an hour for max efficiency. Wilderness could be faster, but the amount of time it would take to bank and the chance of dying to revenants with a full inventory of runite makes it much less attractive.

Unfortunately for F2P, wilderness mining is the only option. I can average a load an hour there, but I've had it take as little as 35 minutes (I got *really* lucky on that one :D )
