I will be level 70 smithing soon, and as it happens to be my favourite skill I would really like to get it to a high level (maybe 99) first.

 

 

 

I recently became P2P (again). I have very little money and was wondering what the best way to gain decent smithing experience and also hopefully earn some money would be. I found out about superheating addy.

 

 

 

If I supplied my own nature runes I would make ~200gp profit per bar I superheat. I've also heard that experience is roughly 40k/h for smithing, and 53k/h for magic. I'm aware that if I only did this method and went all the way to 99, magic would be 99 first but that isn't a problem. :roll:

 

 

 

Questions:

 

 

 

Is this infact a decent method of raising smithing? If not, what do you think is better?

 

 

 

Would superheating mithril or iron be better in terms of cash and exp?

 

 

 

What would be the best way for crafting nature runes, bearing in mind I don't have enough money to get 57 summoning? Would it be worth simply buying the nature runes and losing money?

 

 

 

Am I completely off my rocker?

That's a completely statistically unfounded statement; it's like saying killing cows is the most practical way to train combat because you get good cooking, crafting, and prayer experience.

 

 

 

Superheating is a good way to train magic, and a mediocre way to train smithing. Considering that you seem to be low on money and you really want smithing xp, this may be your only option.

Mithril is your really your only plausible option.

Have you considered the Blast Furnace?

 

Making mithril bolts, I think you profit ~130gp per bar.

 

While it does take longer than making plates, you're profiting.

Okay thank you. I'll do a bit of research into both methods. I like the superheating option though because it does seem like an efficient option in that you're pairing two skills and getting decent exp in both. 90k-100k an hour all up.
