Honestly?

The abrupt stop to the smudging ins't helping this piece, try to expand the banner a bit more, but try to find a balance between effects and smudging, because this piece has a lot of potential!

Could I have a link to the render/stock, please?

Lots. They just don't add to the aesthetics of the piece.

There's nothing wrong with applying borders to a piece - try doing a piece without borders, and if you really feel that it needs them, use them. Though, just look at the design world today - how much of design actually uses borders? Borders seem to "restrict" the flow of the piece - leaving borders out of your work will unleash the flow, and make your pieces look more natural ;)

Thanks for that Sam. That is the first time i've been told why they suck.

I actually don't feel like its the negative white space takes away from the piece, more the AMOUNT of white space, especially in the upper right. Also, consider removing the top and bottom borders, and doing something else with that polygonal thing in the bottom right.

On the positive side, Im really diggin' whats going on to the left of the girl, with that round shape, the static surrounding it, and the repeating diagonal lines. you've got a solid flow going on, and the lighting on the left really works into the bright lighting in the stock. This can be called finished as it is, but id love to see an edit trying to work in all the critique on the border and white space.

Keep up the good work =D>
