I think I used PSP for my first year before I got photoshop. Even back then it was pretty freaking terrible :lol: . (compared to, what, photoshop 5 at the time)

I apologize if I dont know anything about GIMP because I could never waste my time with it...and waste a month learning what the names mean? Photoshop does have a help feature in which every person can take full advantage of..but I don't know a thing. They whole copyrighted thing is an irrelevent statement as previously said who really cares?

 

 

 

As for Tag Ripping, everyone knows whats legit and not just by doing a quick search.

To TC, goodluck getting started and don't let any of these little quarrels stop you from what you want to do.

We aren't stopping him, we are helping him so he doesn't enter Photoshop with no experience at all. Heck, I even tried Photoshop once, and I couldn't use it. Think about the OP, who has no experience at all, and how he would struggle.

 

And why would you need Photoshop, GIMP is fine for what the OP sounds like doing.

 

 

 

And in all honesty, Photoshop is a waste of money unless you are very professional and your get paid for your work, or mummy is rich.

How is being unique making a signature with a picture probably hundreds of others have used before? :| Also if the person doesn't feel like pirating or buying photoshop it's just easier to learn with GIMPs UI, it is much different than Photoshop that is for sure.

 

 

 

 

 

And this isn't a silly competition. I know for a fact Dsavi knows more about a comparison between the two programs than you do. They're a lot alike, save for I find GIMP less user friendly (or at least different names and placement for tools than photoshop) and it lacks some of the more professional options that average users don't even need to worry about.

 

 

 

Or at the very least I know that I know more for a comparison than the two programs, trust me, if you don't want to buy/pirate photoshop GIMP is the next best option.

I don't think you get what I'm trying to say here, that's fine. I'm just trying to say that a lot of people take these "renders" from artist's wallpapers, wallpapers that probably took much much longer than some silly signature did (not to mention more artistic). It really is not different than me just taking a signature, or part of it, and using it as my own. It doesn't matter if I am doing a "tribute" to the person, it doesn't matter if I see something good and want to be "unique". The point is is that it's stealing no matter what way you try and justify it.

To actually answer the TC question. Youtube has a wide variety of sub par vidoes that you could probably use to your benefit (this is only for Photoshop) haven't Youtubed a GIMP tut ever.

His point isn't that you can use the trial, it's that it is sort of pointless to learn photoshop then have to re-learn GIMP. They both have vastly different UI's.

Actually, for me, the transition to Photoshop was quite natural. Once you know the terms it's pretty easy.

PSP... No. Just No. Why someone would pay for that I do not know.

it's definitely not brilliant, but I've used it for so long, and for how I need it, I'm happy.

Why would someone pirate PSP when there are so many better alternatives, haha. :lol:
