You lose more if the poison activates again. That's not very much... poison only takes affect like once per roundup... smoke barrage is efficient cuz of its damage and cost. Even if the poison hit twice every roundup, that's only 72xp lost per roundup. No he means smoke... he's talking about the poison doing damage to the monsters instead of your magic, thus you don't gain XP for whatever damage the poison does instead of your magic
