August 26, 200520 yr I say we need to be able to joust in this game. You know, those long sticks people hold while riding on horses. And the goal being 2 people ride at each other and try to knock each other off in 3 rounds.
August 26, 200520 yr In order for that idea to happen, players should be able to ride horses. In other words - jousts will never hapen, like all the ideas related with horses will never hapen. Why? Can you imagine the size of horses? Now imagine your screen full of ppl with horses. Then, in order for horses to look real, they would travel a lot of time without getting tired or need to stop. Jagex doesn't want that, because one of the things that makes skills harder to raise is the distance that needs to be traveled. Etc, etc...
August 26, 200520 yr Except it would be in a joust areana not just any where. http://www.uzzisoft..../archimage.jpegWell I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.
August 26, 200520 yr Except it would be in a joust areana not just any where. True, tough shortkid111 didn't explained much thing. I guess that some kind of mini game (like castle wars) with horses could be fine.
August 26, 200520 yr Yes but not much is explained now. There should also be a castle wars update so that it more stratagy based instead of 5 ppl rush in a take the flag then leg it, and cannons would be a nice touch. http://www.uzzisoft..../archimage.jpegWell I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.
August 26, 200520 yr Wrong. This is NOT a medieval based game. One of the main points about Runescape when it was first created was that it was an MMORPG without a mould, location or time genre. It's totally mythical. Conversation over. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
August 27, 200520 yr You are quite write and so if it has no time-bases it is both med-evil and future based so everyones a winner http://www.uzzisoft..../archimage.jpegWell I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.
August 27, 200520 yr Just as long as jagex doesn't introduce sticks of light that slice off body parts in one swipe...I'll be fine. |2,300+ Total|138 Combat|12 Lvl 99 Skills|99 Slayer|
August 27, 200520 yr Just as long as jagex doesn't introduce sticks of light that slice off body parts in one swipe...I'll be fine. Lol, i'm going to make a post about that right away. Oh, and we need some chainsaws too. :D In-topic: But, correct me if i'm wrong, a joust is only for 2 knights. Seems kinda strange create a whole set for only two ppl play the game. Course we could have spectators, but still... Unless we make it for tracks: in track 1 we have rsn vs rsnA, in track 2 we have rsnB vs rsnC, etc...
August 27, 200520 yr The game isnt necessarily all medieval, though it has many medieval influences. I do not think they will release jousting, or horses though. There wouldnt really be any way to win... In a game, you wouldnt really have control over your jousting stick.
August 28, 200520 yr So what it would be fun there doesnt need to be a point other than collecting joust tickets use in the shop for some new armour that helps you there http://www.uzzisoft..../archimage.jpegWell I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.
August 31, 200520 yr The game isnt necessarily all medieval, though it has many medieval influences. I do not think they will release jousting, or horses though. There wouldnt really be any way to win... In a game, you wouldnt really have control over your jousting stick. That's very well said. I've seens hundreds of posts on whether RS is medieval or not (with "medieval" misspelled 75% of the time), and edge finally said what I had yet to see. Yes, there's no official time. However, there are no cars. There are ships. There are no skyscrapers. There are castles. There are no microwaves. There are people lighting fires to cook food. Not necessarily medieval, but closer to medieval than modern. And, as far as a jousting arena goes, I say go for it. People will get to see some horses* without being able to ride them everywhere, which we all agree is too much. Contained, it could happen. ** I apologize for even suggesting that an idea including horses is feasible, due to the usual flaming on player-owned horse topics/posts. I realize the danger in doing this, and again, I apologize. lpinkus
August 31, 200520 yr So it's a minigame revolving around a single variable, which is accuracy? Now, really. It's a novel idea and everything, but a wooden lance can punch straight through a suit of plate mail when used by a knight mounted on a decent charger. We're talking about the .50cal of close combat weapons here. It won't be THAT bad of an idea, but I doubt it can be implemented and still be fun. September 5, 200520 yr If it was medival, would there be such a thing as dwarf cannon? A good example, but again, there are examples that support both arguments. It's not really valid to argue either way. Still, the medieval influences are surely there. And it's "medieval." :) lpinkus

DAM. ok, it's not ALL medieval, yes, we have pizzas, we have dwarfs, we have giants, it's a fantasy game, but has Ipinkus said (and very well), most of the influences are medieval, not ALL.
September 5, 200520 yr If there was a mini game like it, it could be similar to the duel arena where you challenge someone or people could spectate and throw tomatoes at you haha. It could be based off of agility and attack if you wish, but slightly off topic, if there are no horses, then why is there something that (to me) looks very similar to a stable at the "Falador Farm?"
September 8, 200520 yr Well, they must be pretty high tech to use a bank system. Do u realise that if u store somethin in a bank, the bank must u COMPUTERS to inform the other branches. Heh. I've never bothered to wonder how the RS banks keep track of my things :) Still, if computers seem too hi-tech, just imagine they're communicating about your account with some sort of tele-conferencing, muchike tele-porting. So there ya go. lpinkus
September 16, 200520 yr Author Wow... people kept this on the first page after the initial ~flames... Hmm... when you look at the overall layout, informing the other banks isn't that hard. First you have to assume that the banks have a infinite supply of everything. If that assumption is true, then the only thing that banks need when informing each other of the accounts is a basic ledger of all items in your accounts and supply. Since that part is so simple, look at the teleportation spell. The time it takes for a person to teleport from one place to another is almost instantanous (spellcheck please). Then lets go back to the assumption that banks have a infinite supply of everything. That means they would have the runes needed to teleport from one place to another. Or simply... a rune/magic powered fax machine... Back to the point I made originally...The jousting place doesn't really seem that hard to create. Just create a additional area with a few lanes as mentioned by someone else before and have races in each lane. The only thing needed would be usage of the arrow keys and the mouse. One will control the pole (most likely the mouse) and the other will control the movement of the person inculding shield. Victory is determined by who hit the other the hardest. The characters would be randomly generated over your character so virtually every joust requires a different amount of skill. Then back to the original complaints... If you look at runescape, it is exactly a medieval based game. The only differences are the monsters which originate in myths which in the medieval times, were completely true. For example, the loch ness monster. It is a myth realistically yet it is still considered by many to be true.
September 16, 200520 yr Actually, this game isn't medieval. It does have a medieval background, but it's fantasy. Many things in the game aren't from medieval times (or simply don't exist), and there is many things in the medieval times that are not present in the game. I doubt Jagex adds joust. Maybe very very far in time.. It involves too many things, horses, possible new skills, new equipement. Jagex has all its update already planned. They almost never use the players' ideas. If I was them I would be the same. It's their game, they do what they want with it. Suggestion forums and things like that are made at 95% to prevent people from flooding their message center with suggestions. The 5% remaining is to hear good ideas from players.. The only thing I know of that has been added because of player feedback is the keyring. And I bet they only did it to not have to add more bank space. 2480+ total
