Finally got my own domain name and everything set up today, pretty happy about it. I'm planning on making it look a bit better -- right now this is probably just version 1 (which granted was a pretty quick version, due to having the time constraint of my college final).

 

 

 

Any comments or criticism is welcome. Feel free to comment on the code if you will too, it was my first time dealing with

tags, big thanks to errodoth for teaching me them. :thumbup:

I'll expand this later, but just at first glance, your portfolio button image is broken :P

 

 

 

EDIT: Your images don't seem to be aligned properly. The first row looks fine but the second row is far too high up - it's not centered in the box.

odd, everything works fine for me (and when I tested it on another PC). I'll take another look into it.

 

 

 

As far as the alignment they look fine to me, I guess I could move it down a little bit.

edit: for some reason it is only doing that in I.E, not firefox. I assume you use IE tripsis?

Yeah I was debating about that one. It obviously works well on my monitor (1680x1050) but I can see it being a problem on smaller resolutions. I might try and shrink the images later, or even shrink them and include download links to the full size wallpaper under it. (if that is possible in lightbox).

Could you elaborate a bit on the lightbox not loading well? Chances are it's the large image size of some of my images (like a few mb for the large wallpapers).

It's a good idea. I was originally planning on using the "next" and "previous" buttons for anything that has multiple view points. For example if I had a level I had designed I could show off different sections of it. I may do what you said though, it all depends really.

You used divs to create a table-like structure, however, I would recommend trying to use more HTML text etc, instead of all images, just to decrease the load times a bit.

Any comments on what could be switched over to more html? I don't really have any text currently so it really is all just images.

Your little logo thing at the top could goto HTML text fairly easily.

 

 

 

And yeah you dont have too much text really, but when you work on the blog page etc, you should aim for HTML text :)

I'm thinking I'm going to get to work on my blog section soon, which I'm going to be trying to do in an entire different style (I sort of have an idea in my head). My goal is to keep the minimalistic feel of it but to have it just simply look better and more engaging. Now that I know about

tags more so I can design the site with that idea in mind.

 

 

 

Hell I'd do a flash based site if I knew much about it, but I don't feel like learning flash right now. Could be nifty though.

It might be worth it, think I'll look around for a copy of flash. Would be a great thing to have on my resume as well.

Great CC. Yeah I have no idea wtf in the code is making it missalign all of the sudden (didn't change anything) but needless to say I'm more worried about the new design now.
