Lake Tahoe Panoramic (better than a landscape!)

Featured Replies

While at nearby Lake Tahoe last week, I took 6 pictures from a spot on the beach. The challenging part (that took me 2 and a half hours) was getting every picture down to sizes that fit eachother, placing them, and then patching up the empty areas. The camera that I used sensed different levels of light in each picture, so each picture had a different lightness/darkness. That had to be changed as well, and was also time consuming. You might see some flaws, but note that this is the best I could do. Please rate or whatever, however I think ratings are overrated. If you like it, tell me why, don't just give me a number please. It might take a little while to load on a slow connection.

I have a larger version, but it is too large to view most of it at once. It can be found here. It might take a while to load.

I like the outcome of the picture. It looks really nice, and look more realistic then stuff from terragen :P ;).

Edit : BTW.. does the guy in the right corner know he was gonna be in a picture that was going to be posted on forum.tip.itÃÆÃââââ¬Ã°(thats my question mark.. my default font is stupid). Lol.. if he does.. then dont bother answering this.

It should look more realistic, as it is photography. Oh, and thay guy's face is bubbled out  .

Nice stuff m8. Photographic work seems to be absent from these boards. A time saving tip though. Use a prorgram called Ulead 360, which automatically stiches a given set of photos together. In a panaramic view, like that which you have there. Also, if the photos are straight enough it does this without any evidence of a join.

Nice work merging all those pics together. My digital camera has an handy option to make panoramics the easy way (up to 5 of them) by showing you the borderzones of previous photo...i suppose u went that way 2. HINT HINT : If u have a solid, plain basement for the camera u can get them perfectly matching without photoshop.

Other than that...back on topic, i was saying it's a nice work. There's just a couple zones where we can see your work without going on the "i'm the busting-you moron" mode.

ONLY BIG PROBLEM : That beach sux....where's the bikini chicks crowd ???

:P  :P  :P

Thanks for all of the comments. My camera has minimal options, all it is based on is the photographer (me) and the lighting. I tried to get it as strait as possible, but I was off in some places.

Expect another one within the next week, this time of the pacific ocean at Playa del Rey, California (Just south of Venice, Santa Monica). I'm there as we speak, and don't have anywhere to upload images to at the moment until I get home, otherwise I would be doing that now. So thanks again for the comments, I took them into consideration when taking the pictures for the next one.

Thanks IDPUP for fixing the large version, found a few flaws in there I didn't think were so noticable :). I would like to see that panoramic you made on your vavation. I hope to see more photography or something similar to what I did being posted, kind of getting sick of the pixel art phase that everyone is going through.

It's good but i can see one really bad thing in it. A few centimetres right of the text, you can blaintly tell where one picture ends and the other starts because the sand is a totally different colour :P

Yes, you're right. Look at IDPUP's version, it's better. I didn't do so well on parts like that. It's hard to do them all well when the camera changes the coloring every photo.

I can tell where it starts and begins 20/20 vision :P Did you take these pcitures at different time? If you look toward middle of photo. At lifeguard stand toward clous and mountain..one part is blue sky and it changes the grey to photo in left

I went ahead and posted mine (it was taken for my benefit not with the intention of sharing it really, but a focus was the clouds and the landscape, meaning the trees... remember I am from Arizona blue skys and sand lol ;))

You can see my pic here... I look forward to reading your comments :)
