All the research in the world often won't change an opinion. Also I have a theory as to why I dislike anime so, I could explain it if you wish.

I'm gonna bet the theory is "The Japanese (and some Koreans) are crack addicts.".

Oh heavens no, its more my subconscious/personality. I won't deny I think the Japanese are crazy and wierd (About the Korean thing, I don't know much if anything about Koreans. I mostly only know about North Koreans and not a whole lot even in that department.) but obviously that appeals to some people.

 

My theory is this. I am very stoic, almost to the point of anti-emotion. Even something as simple as a kissing scene in a movie makes me want to get up and leave. in hindsight I take note that anime mostly if not always grossly exaggerates emotions. The huge changes in facial characteristics and the little emotional "bits" that appear (sweat, the asterisk like thing) are a few examples. I believe this subliminally repulses me. Also I'm a realist, almost to the point of being a huge pessimist. Again the huge changes in facial expression, the hairstyles you often see(huge hair, crazy long hair), the hair colors(blue, green, pink), and in some shows grossly oversized objects(Bleach:Swords). Again this non-realism i think clashes with my subliminal preference for realism. So that's the theory.
