As long as you kill all the brothers and open the chest, you have an equal chance of an barrows piece.

It affects non-barrows armor drops only, such as runes and bolt racks.

 

 

 

The best killcount is the one that balances speed and reward. I usually get 12.

If you don't kill all 6 brothers before searching the chest then it does reduce your chances of barrows items.

 

12+ is best get alteast 12 anything over is a waste of time, but less reduces the profit per run.
