i have personally been playing for 5 years and over that time i have noticed that when you purchase a new weapon your hit/miss ratio goes down until you kill a good number of monsters with it. I've always wondered is that true or is it just my bad luck.

Do you mean a gs? If so, it's probably because you aren't used to such slow weapons...
