games room addition

Featured Replies

Idk if this has been preposed before, but I think it would be cool if there was a game room update where you could play poker or blackjack, and such and bet on your hands/the game using your gp.

any thoughts?

I would love to have some decent card games playable. But i dunno if Jagex is planning on adding any new games at the moment.

I like the idea. I'd gladly impliment it if I had the choice, HOWEVER, we're going to have politically correct conservatives complaining about it teaching children gambling.

I don't really see the need of it in Runescape, you could just find one of the thousands already available online. Unless, you were putting in the alterior motive of betting/gambling, which I'm not entirely sure Jagex would be bananas about, being a prodominently child's game.

Yup. I already made a post to that effect on another topic. Seems harmless, but people do get addicted to gambling, just like tobacco/alcohol/drugs.

It seems to me people also can get addicted to staking... Isn't it some form of 'gambling' too?

Implementing some way of making money off other players in the game room would make it more crowded, so i think that is a good idea.

But card games? You can play those on the internet, and i can't see how jagex would make cards more 'runescapy', like they did with the other games.

I'm the ultimate prayer noob.

Well, yes and no. When you stake another the player, one guy is a winner. However, if you play blackjack at a casino, it's the casino that comes out the winner, every time. Sure, a person may come out ahead on some nights, but the casino itself comes out on top every night. Remember, if you have a million dollars and bet 10 bucks a pop on any casino game, you will eventually lose it all.

My point is that it's possible to wisely stake other players and make profit. There's no "wise" way to gamble, since you'll always lose eventually.

You have a very good point there, Ipinkus. But I was solely talking about the already implemented games. Who wins entirely depends on skill, so if you're good you won't 'eventually lose it all'.

Point taken. I didn't think of that

I see. I agree with you in terms of the currently implemented games. Also, no biggie, but it's actually "L" Pinkus :) It's ok, you're not the first to make that mistake.

Yep chess or blackjack would be good.

Main reason for them not adding the ability to stake cash is that people could easily cheat without them being able to detect them cheating - they simply use a computer and repeat the moves going on in the game and then repeat what the computer does.

I doubt it's because of the gambling thing. You 'gamble' your cash on stakes as a lot of that is to do with luck.

99 Magic, 99 Defence, 99 Strength, 99 Attack, 99 Hitpoints, 99 Fletching, 99 Woodcutting, 99 Firemaking, 99 Thieving, 99 Ranged, 99 Prayer, 99 Cooking, 99 Fishing

wish there is betting on soccer matches

You know, I really do agree with you that it's not really because of the gambling thing. Still, even if there's luck involved in a PvP format, it's not the same as player vs. casino :)

i think we all agree that there should be a new game because whenever i go there there is nobody ever there and the games get boaring after a while. there is alot of room in tha arena and i think there should be some more games, possibly a card game, mabey like uno.
