Staring down the barrel of a gun

Featured Replies

Probably not many of you have heard too much about Hurricane Ophelia, but those on the coast of North and South Carolina, incuding myself, are watching it closely. Right now it's sitting Southsoutheast of the Carolinas moving at about 2mph in a generaly Northwesterly direction, it could make landfall around Tuesday, or curve back out into the Atlantic, its kind of hard to predict right now. Its only catagory 1 now, but after seeing Katrina, I'm feeling kind of nervous. If anyone else lives in the area where it might hit, try to stay safe.

I saw this on the news -- no one seems to be paying much attention to it; all the attention is still on the evacuees from Katrina. I hope the south east the best of luck. :)

Teaching and inspiring.

Well considering that it's like 1000k off the coast and not even close to having devistating effects I'm not suprised no one is really 'watching' it.

If it swings towards land people will be paying attention. I can bet that much.

Ive heard about it. It was bugging me when the NFL announcers are talking about the win for the saints and how emotional it was. Sure, it was, but what about the panthers, there is a hurricane up there too.. I know it wouldnt be as bad, but still.

Don't be so confusing with your titles. A nerf gun is not a "gun."

Yeah it seems to be little of a threat now, although now it most likely will hit us. The only danger will be flooding since its been downgraded. Because it's moving so slow, the right wind direction could push water up into the rivers and creeks like it did in Isabell and Floyd and give some people in really low areas a few inches of water in their yard.

lol yeah it came out a little more dramatic than I meant it to, I was wondering why the views were so inconsistent with the replies...

well, i live near savannah georgia, and it was supposed to turn towards me, then it downgraded mind you this was saturday i think, then it was upgraded yesterday to a hurricane and the impact point was centered for somewhere around the South Carolina/NCAR border, now its a TS again, this thing doesnt know what its going to do, every day it gets upgraded the downgraded, no one knows, not all hurricanes are bad, just alot of rain and wind, most of the rain is good for the south considering weve been in a drought for the last 3-4 years :\

Its back up to category 1 now, and still moving 2-4mph. Its currently located 100 miles southeast of Wilmington, NC, towards which it is currently heading. It might change again, who knows, but it looks like it will hit NC. Right now it's starting to rain and get fairly windy.
