Can't play MIDIs.

It's weird, because I didn't do ANYTHING for them to stop working. I just opened Guitar Pro 4 and loaded a file to it (these files are then played in the program as MIDIs), no sound. So then I attempted to play a MIDI in Winamp, didn't work either.

Really, any help with this will be very appreciated.

I had this problem before. I would check your sound card settings. I can not remember exactly what I did, but you might not have the right software/whatever installed to be able to play midi's properly. At least, when was the last time you actualy played a .MIDI, or have you ever?

Kontrollpanelen > Ljud och ljudenheter > Ljud (Assuming you have Windows XP Swedish)

Check which device Midi-playback uses. Mine uses the default Microsoft one, so you might want to switch to that if your's doesn't work. Then press Volume and check if any of the tabs are set to zero or very low.

Alright. I know what the problem is.

Whenever I try to play a midi, the "Synthesizer" in the sound-panel thingy resets to zero - however, I can manually raise the bar-thingy, and it works. :P

So I guess I can live with that.

Okay, news just in: midis now work.

However, I have no idea why or how they just started working again. Maybe the school network resetted the settings? No idea, and I don't intend to ponder about it anyway, because it works - so it's all good. :)
