I think this has been answered before but I couldnt find it do strike spells still gain you ep?

Stike don't, bolt and up does.

Every spell gives you experience for casting, but combat ones give you more based on how much damage each cast does to your opponent.

 

 

 

Some minigames do not allow you to get experience for casting magic of any kind, limit the experience, or alter it.

It is more common now to see player attack each other with bad weps than to see them striking or bolting each other.
