Distractions and diversions- shooting star map

Featured Replies

I made a map showing all the places a shooting star and would like it added (in a clickable downsized image) to the shooting star guide. here is the image:

I think they'll appreciate the initiative, but I think they like to "tip.it-ify" their maps (all of them seem to look to be done by the same program or person) and the map you've got is just slightly out-dated from the in-game map (though I don't think any of the newly revealed areas have anything to do with the Shooting Stars.

I think it's a good idea, though, and would support Tip.It crew making a map not unlike the one they have for PvP with the overlays.

I envision a map where you could choose the area it was going to fall, then have those possible spots show up on the map. Not only that, but the same map could have other Distractions and Diversions included (possible Circus locations and Evil Tree locations).

I think this is in the wrong forum at the moment of my post, but I imagine a crew member will help move this to the proper place soon.

Good idea.

this map was downloaded about 2 days ago from the runescape offical website's download page so it it not outdated... and why should i have to be done buy tip.it's special person, or program, tip.it is a fansite and can have and should have some user contributed work

Edit:also, i would gladly make a map like tip.it's if they will tell me the program they used to make it

The map on their site (the download one) is out-dated. Things like that are why the crew usually asks for confirmation and does it's own research for new updates on other topics.

I can't speak for crew, but having all the maps look one certain way looks more professional to me.

I think they use high quality programs, but I'll let a crew member comment and PM you if they wish. I hope you're enjoying the site otherwise...

Our basic world map is handmade from the game.

We use photoshop to create overlays of items of interest. Then we make all the layers into a flat file, usually a PNG.

I like the idea of your map. The hard thing is it is large, and the areas of interest cover SO much real estate (all of Kandarin, for example), and thus it doesn't all fit on the screen at once.

For our fairy ring popup map, we used a map "shrunk" to a somewhat manageable size on the screen. However, as you can see the base map used there is outdated - at that time we had no regular mapper on crew. It's hard to maintain many versions in different places.

I will notify our Master Mapper to look at this thread. The Crew is GREATLY appreciative of anyone who wants to work on maps, and I encourage your interest. Let's see if we can work something out.

Please PM me with information about what graphics software you have available.

it's a lot easier to get over yourself when you look at intelligence the same way you look at beauty, or height, or eye color: being smart is easy, but being good is hard ... being smart is handed to you, being good is handed to *nobody*.

Have spoken to our mapper and he really likes the idea.

ilovetopk, thanks for your pm and I'll pm you back to discuss it more.

Not sure how soon the crew can do this, as we have some big map projects going - we may work something out.
