ovorette
I am new to this Evil Tree hunting and have a couple of questions. Does the timer of the Leprechaun's magic continue to tick away if you need to log out or will you have the same amount of time left when you log back in? There is a lot of advice given by people at the Evil Tree locations such as "Don't light fires!", and "All stand on south side of tree!", "Cut roots!", etc. Anyone have some definite information about these opinions? Thanks in advance for any help :)
zwyrm
When you log out the magic doesn't go away. It stops when you log out and starts again when you log back in. And about the advice...Well...If you wanna light fires, you light fires. If you wanna stand on the south side, you stand on the south side... AnthonyWL
Does the timer of the Leprechaun's magic continue to tick away if you need to log out or will you have the same amount of time left when you log back in? Im pretty sure it runs on real time meaning if you log out the time ticks away. It the same as the Evil Tree growing and World/Time Placements. Its all at a specific World and place. There are many Clan Chats out there on Evil tree's that can help you with all these things :) There is a lot of advice given by people at the Evil Tree locations such as "Don't light fires!", and "All stand on south side of tree!", "Cut roots!", etc. Anyone have some definite information about these opinions? Cutting the roots just means you have more room to cut the tree. If people don't cut the roots you can't cut the tree because it is only available to cut on either North, South, East and West sides. If you light fires; i heard the tree dies faster. So... Yeah.. And as for cutting on the South Side.. Iunno.. :-# **EDIT** Found an article on Evil Trees The mechanics of the tree's health and reward systems are not fully known, so many theories about them are unproven. Some of the theories/rumors are: * That lighting fires around the evil tree will result in a lower reward percentage for everyone other than the player who lit them, because doing so shortens the tree's life span. * That trees will stay up for a minimum time period regardless of their remaining health. This allegedly is the cause of evil trees which remain standing well after their health reaches 0%. * That the trees will remain standing until someone reaches a reward of 100%, even if the tree's health is at 0% (this may also be connected with the above statement). **EDIT #2** * If an Evil Tree takes too long to die, then it gets struck by lightning from whatever it's health is (If above 50%) down to 50%. If it is in between 25 and 50, then it will fall to 25% and then die on the third hit if it doesn't die quick enough. ovorette
Thanks you guys! I'll give the timer a test next time and post back. Thanks for the article. Theories, gotta love 'em. :D
gspbeetle
"dont light fire" Basically you want to light the fire, but others dont. Everyone are selfish (except communist), they want to lower your % so they can get more. Just ignore them and set it on fire anyway as long as you get an evil root. "stand at the south" Just to keep everyone at the same side, so all can focus on taking down only 1 root, not all. A nice way to increase efficency after you light all 4 sides on fire. Logging in the next day, I could still use the magical banking ability. You can log out in one world and log into another as well. [hide=Tree getting struck by lightning][/hide] Cutting roots allows for space to cut the tree and kindling to light fires. Lighting fires does not significantly damage the tree, in fact, less so than NOT lighting fires and cutting the tree. Cutting the roots earns less experience for the cutter than cutting the tree and damages the tree less. So people concerned about getting the full rewards would be better off asking nicely for people to cut the roots rather than not lighting fires. First rule...don't be concerned with anyone but your own self. That sounds harsh, but you cannot force someone not to cut the tree and cut roots. It's random, and frequently while I've been cutting trees, people come late, start cutting, only to later realize there isn't much health left...then they start making demands and yelling. Don't start cutting the tree if you don't think you can get full rewards and WANT full rewards. It's not like stars, in that way. You can't "bank" your progress for full rewards later...you only get two trees per day. Lighting fires does not significantly damage the tree, any more than cutting. It's a rumour that got started early on that has no basis in fact. Your best bet is to get as much experience as you can. If there are people there that are close to full rewards and are asking nicely, it's up to you whether to cut the roots (which damage the tree less) or the tree. The only thing that significantly damages the tree is lightning, which happens if not enough people have been cutting the tree during a certain time period. For that reason, not cutting the tree properly actually earns everyone less experience and could earn everyone less rewards, if they're not cutting the tree while waiting for late arrivals to earn rewards. It is efficient to all cut at the same spot, however. Multiple people cutting one root makes it "fall" faster, which cuts down on missed experience, because roots earn less experience than the tree. If everyone was cutting in the same spot, it would maximize experience, but again, there are some people at every tree that just feel like they have to be different than everyone else...show off...or whatever.
