Norriie
I'm in the process of getting myself a gilded altar in my house, and I've never really used one, so I have no idea how I should do it. So I have just a couple questions, any help would be appreciated~ 1. I'm supposed to light the burners with marentill, right? How long will they last before I have to re-light? 2. Should I bring a familiar? I have 66 summoning. 3. Is there anything else I ought to know? It seems pretty straightforward... Bones -> altar, Bones -> altar, etc. but you never know what kind of odd techniques people come up with ;P [Click for my blog] [hide=Drops & Achievements] 99 Hunter: 4/30/09 99 Cooking: 6/2/2009 99 Attack: 6/9/10 Dragon Legs x2 | Dragon Skirt x2 | Dragon Med x3 | Dragon Boots x13 | Dragon Shield Left Half x1Abyssal Whip x2 | Granite Maul x8 | Granite Helm x2 | Granite Legs x1[/hide]
Faiylen
1. They last about 2 minutes so I'm not sure exactly but I guess that would mean having to re-light before each inventory. 2. Using a Beast of Burden familiar would help a lot - a spirit terrorbird is the best that you can summon at the moment, which will carry 12 additional bones, but with 1 more summoning level you could use a war tortoise, which carries 18 bones. Either way, using a familiar will be a big advantage. 3. It is pretty straight-forward. :P Just bank, have the familiar store as many bones as it will take, take out more bones to fill your inventory, teleport to your house, use them on the altar, unload the familiar, use those on the altar and return to the bank. Castle Wars or Edgeville are popular choices for banking with jewellery. :)
Norriie
Thanks ;] I think I can probably manage to get another summoning level for the war tortoise.. I don't have any charms right now but there's always tears of guthix & penguin hunting XD [Click for my blog] [hide=Drops & Achievements] 99 Hunter: 4/30/09 99 Cooking: 6/2/2009 99 Attack: 6/9/10 Dragon Legs x2 | Dragon Skirt x2 | Dragon Med x3 | Dragon Boots x13 | Dragon Shield Left Half x1Abyssal Whip x2 | Granite Maul x8 | Granite Helm x2 | Granite Legs x1[/hide]
ovorette
Just a little bit of information I learned that might save you some gp: Don't be persuaded, unless you just like the look, to install the marble burners as they do not affect the performance of the gilded altar. The lower burner will give you the same 350% experience per bone. ;) I have neither item, but I tested this at friends' houses.
billybob323
Just a quick tip you might already know: If you hang an amulet of glory in your house, you get infinite teleports with it. Use it to tele to Edgeville for a quick way to the bank.
Amaranth_GTO
I have my house set up with the atar in the room next to the portal, and the amulet of glory in the room just south of the chapel. I think this is the best way to do it, unless you plan on using rings of dueling to bank. The burners are lit with marentill, and you should be able to do a full inventory before you bank. Just carry 2 marentill, a tinderbox, and a stack of house teletabs in your inventory, with all the bones.

kwimbob
3. Is there anything else I ought to know? It seems pretty straightforward... Bones -> altar, Bones -> altar, etc. but you never know what kind of odd techniques people come up with ;P You should use mousekeys, as explained in this guide. They let you move your mouse a prescribed distance - the distance down from a right click to the "use" option rather than the bury option - instantly. Not only does it speed up how quickly you can use them, but it'll save you from accidentally burying bones and losing out on the 350% bonuses. Yes, this means I look exactly like the protagonist of that certain anime that my second character, Faye_V is also named after. Yes, I bought a jacket that also looks like his. No in real life I don't have a slain bear to sling over my shoulders. Yes, I'm that skinny even if I no-life it for years in basements. No, I can't shoot a gun. Yes, I can win any other strategic video game you have never played - because I probably have, ahahaha. And yes, I also have brown eyes, yet one of my eyes looks different from the other. And yes, I'm completely oblivious to the [real] world around me as I constantly engineer new solutions to daily problems in my head. When I get hungry, all that isn't food can wait.
